Student discipline: Our goal is to support our students and staff to maintain a positive learning environment inside and outside the classroom.

Reciprocal Reading In pairs, read Discipline Scenario one Decide who will be Student A and Student B. Student A will read the first scenario while Student B is listening. When Student A is finished reading, Student B will summarize the scenario using his own words. Both students will answer the question at the bottom.

Discipline Referral Guidelines Minor issues Vs. Major issues. For minor infractions use your own tried interventions and DOCUMENT before writing a referral. (per PUHSD Board policy /IKA) For major infractions call security, contact the discipline office, write a referral.

Writing a referral Fill out the form completely and try not to omit important information. Include previous interventions attempted by you prior to submitting the referral. PLEASE BE SPECIFIC: – Describe the observed behavior only – Keep in mind the privacy of other students – Please write legibly

Metro Tech Academic Recovery Time MART Per the School District a Tardy is defined as not being in the assigned class or activity when the tardy bell has finished ringing. It is the responsibility of the teacher to enforce the tardy policy and of the school administration to assist and implement a tardy policy. WE must work together to ensure the success of our tardy policy.

MART When a student is late to class: To minimize classroom disruption, give a student a MART TICKET and have him/her fill it out and inform the student that he/she has been assigned. The student keeps a copy and you keep a copy for your records. our Student Study Facilitator ROBERTO VALADEZ with your list of students that are being assigned to MART at least 15 minutes before MART starts. If student misses MART, he/she is assigned to Saturday school. ROOM 2083

MART MART Times and Location: MART is held in room :30 to 8:00 Lunch 3:05-3:35

Electronic Devices Any electronic device that causes a disruption in a classroom other any other educational setting will be confiscated. Take the confiscated electronic device to the discipline office in a sealed envelope including your name, the student’s name and ID #. First time that an electronic device is turned into the discipline office, the student will be able to get it after school. Second offense: the parent must pick up the electronic device. Multiple offenses: the student will receive a referral.

ATTENDANCE INTERVENTION Frequently Asked Questions: How often should I take attendance? If I’m not taking attendance regularly or accurately, how does that affect the school? What happens when a student is absent? What happens when a student has an attendance procedure?

ATTENDANCE INTERVENTION EXPECTATIONS PER J-1561JH-R: Each high school must establish a procedure to monitor the implementation of the attendance policy. Teachers must take attendance every day and make reasonable efforts to conference with students about their attendance problems and coordinate make-up work. Attendance procedures must be consistent and included in the teacher’s plan for success.

Teacher responsibilities: 1-3 Absences: Advisory Teacher: Contact with student and log into synergy. Classroom teacher: Give “we missed you card” 3-4 Unexcused Absences: Advisory teacher: Contact parent guardian, log contact into synergy. We are here to support you in this process. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Rubio APS or Mr. Reynoso APR.
