3 Red Homework Folders  Homework folders are taken home every day containing students’ homework for that night.  Please review their homework with them.  The left side of the folder is for items that should be “LEFT at home”. The right side is for items that the student needs to “Bring RIGHT back”.

4 Parent Volunteer Hours Parents are required to fulfill 20 hours per academic year. The following are some ways to obtain hours: - Donating supplies for the classroom (Ex: Copy paper, Clorox wipes, candy and small toys for the treasure box) - Volunteering at the front office for miscellaneous tasks.

5 Tardy Policy As policy of Youth-Co Op Charter School:  1 st Tardy- Warning  Teacher marks tardy in Grade Book and may call parent.  2 nd Tardy-  Teacher marks tardy in Grade Book  Teacher contacts parent  3 rd Tardy-  Teacher marks tardy in Grade Book  Teacher contacts parent  Student receives teacher detention  4 th Tardy  Teacher marks tardy in Grade Book  Teacher contacts parent  Student is referred to the counselor  Teacher issues a referral to student and is turned into Ms. Mendez  5 th Tardy  Teacher marks tardy in Grade Book  Teacher contacts parent  Teacher issues a referral to student and is turned into Ms. Mendez  Student and parent will be placed on a late arrival contract.  6 th Tardy  Student is referred to the assistant principal.

7  YCCS is a school of choice not entitlement and the children attending are Miami-Dade County Public school students.  Comply with the YCCS Student Code of Excellence.  Recognize that you are the FIRST teacher of your child and have primary responsibility for your child’s education.  Understand that the school attendance is mandatory. If student is absent, you must send a note. Parent’s Contract to YCCS

8 Parent’s Contract to YCCS (continued…)  Arrival time is from 7:30 a.m.-8:10 a.m. After 8:15, your child is considered “tardy”. Students will NOT be dismissed during lunch, P.E., or 30 minutes prior to dismissal.  You will encourage your child to maintain a 2.0 or above average GPA.  You will participate in the “parent volunteer program” of 20 hours per child and 10 additional hours per sibling.  Students are not allowed to bring toys or games. If so, items will be confiscated until the END of the year.  Uniforms must be worn every day.

9  We are no longer be taking the FCAT, it has been replaced with the new test which will be administered at the beginning of next year.  Students will be asked to not simply answer questions, but be able to critically think about their responses. Florida Standards Assessments

11  We are using an online program to assist the students in their reading skills.  “i-Ready” provides supplemental assistance for students.  Lessons are fun and interactive! I-Ready will be done in class and for homework (Minimum of 30 mins per day) ***ATTENTION*** Please do NOT help your child answer questions on i-Ready. i-Ready

15  3 rd Grade is one of the most vital grades in your child’s education.  Please have your child come to school every day so he/she will not fall behind on content.  Unexcused absences will result in a “zero” for that day’s missed assignment(s).  Please be mindful of picking up your child early. There are two teachers involved in their day so they miss out on lessons. Attendance
