Lincoln High School Campus Discipline Plan

2 Teacher Expectation To ensure a consistent and safe school environment the Administrative Team of Lincoln High School will expect the following from our teachers and staff to assist with our Campus Discipline Plan: 1.Teachers will stand in the hallway near their classroom during each passing period to assist monitoring students in the hallway and greeting students as they enter your classroom. 2.Teachers will follow the campus Tardy Policy and close classroom doors when the tardy bell sounds and direct tardy students to the tardy tank. 3.Teachers must be consistent and adhere to the campus discipline plan. 4. Hall captains will be assigned to each ZONE (Hallway) to ensure and encourage teachers to be visible in the hallways during each passing period . Everyone must be vocal and keep students moving during the passing periods.

3 Schoolwide Classroom Rules
1.Be On Time, Every Time 2.Respect yourself and others at all times 3.School uniforms are mandatory daily 4.Bring all supplies to class and be ready to learn

4 2017-2018 Tardy Policy Students are tardy if not in class by 9:05a.m.
Tardy students will report to their class and sign the tardy log. Teachers are expected to CLOSE and LOCK doors when the Tardy Bell rings. PLEASE unlock and open doors after FIVE MINUTES. Excessive and repeat tardy violators (6 or more) during a Six-Weeks grading period may result in Out of School Suspension. Excessive absences and tardiest are NOT tolerated at Lincoln High School.

5 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Teachers must be in control of their classroom for effective instruction to take place. Effective strategies to implement in your classroom proven to be effective from research include: The BEST classroom management plan is a GREAT LESSON PLAN Good seating arrangement with seating chart Classroom is neat and organized Teacher greets students as they enter with eye contact Being prepared to teach and engage students from bell to bell Monitoring students by walking around Limit movement in and out of class (Passes) Respectful and courteous with students, expecting the same in return Follow campus discipline procedures Conferences with problem student outside the presence of the class Communicates often with parents by phone and school conferences NO PASSES POLICY for the first 10 min. or last 10 min. of class unless Extreme Emergency!!!!! THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT and DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS.

6 Student Discipline Referral Procedures
1.Warning/Classroom based Consequences. 2.Student/Teacher Conference. 3.Communicate with Parent by phone. 4.Teacher/Parent Conference 5.Referral to Discipline Office/ Administrator. PLEASE DOCUMENT and KEEP a LOG of Students with CHRONIC BEHAVIOR.

OUT OF SCHOOL CAUSES: Cultural Sensitivity Violence in Society Effects of the Media “ME” Generation Lack of a Secure Family Environment IN SCHOOL CAUSES Student Boredom Powerlessness Unclear Limits Lack of Acceptable outlets of Feelings Low Reading Levels

8 Action Plan for Campus Discipline and Classroom Management
To promote positive interventions through frequent parental contact, parent conferences, providing student incentives and referral to the Student Support Team (SST) for appropriate placement as needed. Students will be encouraged to accept responsibility for their actions, behave in a manner that permits uninterrupted learning to take place, exercise self-control and respect the rights of others. Students must be provided a nurturing and caring environment within the rules that govern appropriate behavior in our society. The purpose of this plan is to establish a plan of action that is consistent and fair to all students, faculty and staff at Lincoln High School providing the most cooperative, safe and learning environment possible. Any action taken by the faculty and staff of Lincoln High School will be appropriate, mindful of the students rights and affords each student due process under the rules of the DISD Student Code of Conduct and the Campus Discipline Plan.
