4 School Wide Rules 1. Respect adults, peers, and yourself (verbally and physically) 2. Report to class on time with materials 3. Only use electronic devices for learning within the classroom 4. Students should be in uniform at all times 5. Be positive

5 Classroom Procedures What it should look like?
What it should sound like?

6 Entering Class My expectation is that all students arrive on time with their necessary materials. Upon arrival you have 5 minutes to begin and complete your Warm-Up. Students are to remain seated during class and should not get up without permission. This activity (as all others) will be timed. Look? Sound?

7 Exiting Class The bell is for Mr. Mercer NOT YOU!!!!
There will be a time keeper each mod to notify me of when the ending bell is near. Chairs and desks should be straightened. Lab Stations and desk areas must be clean. Do not exit until you hear Mr. Mercer say “Class Dismissed”

8 Materials As mentioned before you should be prepared for class. What does this consist of? Composition Book (journal) Blue or Black Pen If anything else is needed you will be notified in advance.

9 PEDs Mr. Mercer DOES allow Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) in class!! PEDs are to be used responsibly while adhering to classroom guidelines. Face down in the corner of your desk. ON SILENT….not vibrate Students who do not use their PED within guidelines will face consequences for doing so.

10 Working in Groups We will practice working in groups.
Group assignments are determined by Mr. Mercer Science class is not social hour. You are not here to work with your friends. You are here to work with those who you can teach and learn from.

11 Can you explain…? Random thoughts… questions or concerns are NOT to be asked during instructional time. Students must wait until the designated time (before the end of class) to ask questions about things that do not pertain to the lesson.

12 But I really have to go..!!! It is a school wide policy at The Mill that students are not permitted to use the bathroom the first 10 or last 10 minutes of any period. The answer during those times is NO. Only one student can be out of the room at a time. If someone else is out…your must wait.

13 …cont’d Signal the number 1 if you have to use the bathroom. This is to prevent disruptions during instructional time. Green passes will be issued and time stamp Please return to class in a timely matter

14 Homework Homework will be given at the most 3 times per week. Mr. Mercer understands that you have other classes. This is to provide you with an opportunity to present your BEST work. Use your time wisely. Homework will be announced via the following sources: Edmodo, MyHomework app and Classroom Board

15 Homework Checking Mr. Mercer will designate students to check homework. If it is not presented at the time established for checking it will be considered late. Look? Sound?

16 Lunch Room The Walker Mill Way also applies in the Lunch Room!!!
Students should have decorum when eating in the lunch room. Again, You must teach them YOUR expectation of them. The custodial staff at WMMS are not the students’ personal maid service!!! Look? Sound?
