Welcome Party Week DAA Resources Format Publicity Funding Timeline Planning Your Event: Page 1 of 2

Welcome Party Week DAA designates a Welcome Party Week each year Generally in the Fall during a 10-day period Covers two weekends Usually in October Depending on Homecoming and the religious holidays DAA announces dates in late spring/early summer

DAA Resources DAA Regional Staff and regional leadership Provide assistance with logistics Help identify dates that do not conflict with other regional programming

May take any format Many cities have found success planning a happy hour at a bar Welcome parties are open to all alumni New arrivals are the guests of honor Format

Post on regional website Advertise using your usual tools (website, social media, etc.) Set up online registration DAA will add to their list of all Welcome Parties DAA will send alerts to recent grads At event, announce upcoming events and volunteer opportunities Publicity

DAA provides small amount of funding for these events Amount announced when dates are set The event must be scheduled during the designated timeframe for funding Most cities use funding to purchase appetizers for guests with a cash bar Regional staff will work out logistics of funding If DAA Staff is attending, they will pay at the venue If the venue accepts a credit card, expenses can be paid in advance Funding

Timeline August/September- Set date and location of Welcome Party 5 Weeks out- Send invitation and publish in regional e-newsletter 4 Weeks out- Begin event publicity 2 Weeks out- Send reminder At Least 2 Days Before- Send reminder to RSVP’s with details Day-of Event- Confirm attendees, refreshments and A/V 1-2 Days After Event- Send write-up to DAA
