Nature Mama A work in Progress By Michael Reilley

Nature Mama aims to: Network and share information concerning our passion, making all- natural hygiene and health products.

When I first approached Nature Mama, the company had yet to actually exist. It’s potential products were under development, using family members as guinea pigs. Trials and errors led to a strong sense of confidence, and after great deal of pushing, Nature Mama was born. Nature Mama is adamant about being 100% open about their product’s ingredients, and the love and methods behind their creation. N ature Mama was not created as a means towards a profit, rather to educate and inform others on the safer alternatives that are available. N ature Mama serves to provide products for those unable to take the time necessary to make the many different products.

Nature Mama provides: Baby Powder Toothpaste Deodorant Facial Scrubs and Cleansers Beard Balm and Oils ANYTHING YOU NEED Something Nature Mama prides themselves on is sharing everything, including ingredients, recipes, methods, and sources.

Getting Nature Mama online was, and still is, quite an ordeal. Since the company is a grassroots company, there were no current social media profiles to review. The owner was adamant about not using her personal Facebook profile to create the business page, which created a pretty large issue with gathering followers. I am working on getting her to let me use her personal page, and she can set me as a page administrator, or I can merely coach her along. I am committed to seeing this be a success. She is beginning to realize that the excessive use of “Private” settings is not allowing people outside of her network to access and view her content. It is also a hard time getting the client to post any content at all, or monitor her business page, as it is not apart of her regular page, and sadly falls out of mind.

Strengths: Openness Ability to personalize and customize. Inventory control Complete content control Weaknesses: Time Stubborn about privacy Cost in start up materials Order Consistency

I created a Facebook, Google+, Instagram, and LinkedIn account for my client, and made sure that content uploaded to all of the social media sites was similar, that any language/personality was consistent, and that the over-all themes of the pages were similar to one another.

Engaging Getting my client to engage with customers is quite a joke. I mean that in the greatest way, but I have to get her to log on before I can focus on her loading up content. I have gotten her to load up some articles, and pictures of products. Eliminating some of the social media platforms, and focusing on Facebook and Instagram may make maintaining a business page seem a little less daunting. Trying to get content up, I have advised my client to definitely begin loading more content, on a regular basis established on a content calendar, use events to set up trials and demonstrations, use hash tags to link her page/posts with relevant key words, and create a Pinterest account, to further utilize hash tags and link her pages further.

My client has actually had fairly good success spreading her business via word of mouth. Many of her clients are people who don’t really frequent social media, as well as older clientele that don’t have social media accounts at all. One idea for my client to generate some traffic on her social media sites is to create business cards that contain her major social media pages.

None of my clients social media pages took off, as time to maintain and monitor were a valuable commodity for my client at this time. It is hard for her to take the time to sit down and monitor the sites during the day with two little ones and the duties of raising a family. Her evenings are filled with making the products for customers.

Even Better Another great way for my client to utilize social media is to use YouTube. With YouTube, she can upload video demonstrations of how to make her products, and how to use them. She can utilize the comments section to bolster brand ambassadors, and link her other pages.

Undergoing the client project, and learning about social media have been quite the experience. I was not a member on many of the social media sites prior to this class, and learning about all of them, and how to best use them can be very overwhelming. As for my client, I learned that you cannot force a client to maintain and monitor a social media page. Many small business owners have very little time to spare, and using that time pursuing their passions/operations can be much more fulfilling for them than getting on social media. I feel the best thing for a busy small business owner is to hire someone to m
