Welcome to Lakeside

Baseline Assessment  Early Excellence – not a formal test  Evidence is taken through observations whilst the children are playing  Classing the children – you will be informed within a week

Transition Afternoons  Please leave the children if you can and have a cup of tea in the hall.  The children will meet their teachers and play in their new classrooms.  We have visited several nurseries and telephoned others but due to the large number of different settings we are unable to visit them all.  Tuesday 9 th June A-L 1.00pm -1.45pm, M-Z – pm  Wednesday 1 st July A-L 1.00pm – 1.45pm, M-Z – 2.00pm – 2.45pm

Over the holidays Over the holidays  Correct pencil grip/paintbrush  Getting dressed independently, coats and shoes etc  Manage toilet routines  Help your child get excited and get ready for school

Individual Parent Meetings  Thursday 3 rd September  Friday 4 th September  10 minute slot per family  Sign up during the transition afternoons  To discuss any medical needs, answer any questions  Parents are welcome to bring children or come alone – very popular in the past

Staggered Starting Dates  Group 1 – Monday 7 th September (youngest 10 in each class)  Group 2 – Thursday 10 th September  Group 3 – Wednesday 16 th September  9.15am start on first day only – come through the gate in the playground to the Reception entrance  Until 1.30pm  Wednesday 23 rd September - in all day until 3.10pm

First Day Routines  9.15am start on first day only.  Parents are welcome to come in to classrooms to help children settle, etc.  Parents to leave as soon as their child is settled.  Pick up at 1.30pm from the classrooms, school gate will be opened.  From second day onwards 8.45am in the playground.  From Wednesday 23 rd September children to be collected at 3.10pm from the classrooms.

Uniforms and P.E kits  NAME EVERYTHING!  P.E will begin week commencing 28 th September.  Send P.E kits in to school in a drawstring bag as soon as possible.

Lunchtimes  Discuss the menu each day before school with your child.  They have to make a choice during the register.  Reception eat in the hall and we eat earlier than the rest of the school so we are in there alone.

Snacks and Milk  Register with cool milk, the children receive free milk each day until their 5 th birthday – MUST register first  Free fruit snack each day  Named water bottle in school every day
