Transition Arrangements Transition Visits All children have been invited to three transition visits that will be taking place this term, on these days your child will have the opportunity to play with the resources, access the learning environment and meet other children who will be starting in September. It is also a great opportunity for you to meet other parents and have an informal chat with members of the team. It is not necessary to wear school uniform during these visits.

Starting School in September To ensure that children have a calm and enjoyable transition into Linchfield we have a system of staggered entry, across the first week we will be having half of the classes in the morning and half in the afternoon. There will also be an opportunity to stay for a lunchtime session. Further details of your child’s transition visits and September sessions are provided in your Information Pack (provided at the end of the meeting).

First week at School Half days for the first week, please refer to your individual information pack for further details about sessions. Morning session: 9.15 -12:00 Afternoon session: 1.00 – 3.15 Please ensure that lunch is eaten at home. All children/parents to arrive via the car park gate. All children will be full time from week beginning Monday 12 th September.

Year Six Buddies As part of our transition support for your child each of them are given a Year Six buddy. On your child’s first transition visit they will receive a letter from their new buddy!

Arriving at school Our class doors will open at 8:45. A member of the Early Years Team will be at the door to greet the children and take any messages from parents. You are welcome to accompany you child into the cloakroom to help them put their belongings on their peg and settle them into their classroom.

Collection Following lunch time the children will return to the classroom for the afternoon session and will be dismissed at 3:15 by a member of the Early Years Team. Please ensure that the Early Years Team are aware of any changes to who is collecting your child. This can be done either in the morning or by telephoning the office. During this “handover time” there is a chance to have an informal chat about your child’s day at school and to pass on any other relevant information.

Packed Lunches Please can you provide your child’s packed lunch in a named box containing an ice pack to keep their food cool. We ask for safety reasons, that you do not send any glass bottles into school.

Lunchtime All children are taken into the hall for lunch by a member of Early Years Team and settled to their table. Following their lunch the children will then access the playground which is shared with Year One and Two. Children are returned to their classroom at the end of lunchtime by their lunchtime supervisor.

Hot Lunches Free school meals are available for all children in Foundation and Key Stage 1. All meals need to be pre ordered.
