2 The plan for this morning. 10:30 – 11:20 Children have time in the Foundation Stage classrooms with their Special Friends. 11:20 We will all wash our hands and walk back here to the hall to meet you. 11:30 Please accompany your child and their Special Friend as they queue up at the serving hatch to get lunch. 12:00 Say goodbye to your Special Friend

3 Further induction activities 2:40pm Thursday 9 th July – Story time 6:00pm Friday 3 rd July – Summer Evening Picnic Saturday 11 th July – Tendring Show Education Tent We are visiting local pre-school settings on the days when the majority of children are in attendance. First Week Feedback meeting in September – detailed information. All About Me meeting

4 Class Placements Information gained from induction visits and our visits to pre-school settings all contribute to class placements. You will receive a letter detailing: The name of your child’s teacher. Arrangements for starting school. The date and time of your ‘All About Me’ meeting.

5 September Your letter will tell you: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday until 1:00pm Lunch arrangements – packed lunch or universal hot meals. All About Me meetings – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoons.

6 The First Day A gradual start to the week so we can: Settle all children, embed our expectations and teach rules and routines from the outset. Chaperone children at lunchtime and playtimes until they are familiar with their new environment. Welcome and dismiss children individually and start to build positive relationships straight away.

7 The First Morning Please bring you child to the glazed link doors (front playground or back gate sides). Reception pupils will be invited in once the older children have gone to their classes. Teaching assistants and teachers will be on hand to welcome our new pupils and show them the way to the classrooms.

8 What does my child need? PE bag with indoor kit – white t-shirt, blue shorts, plimsolls. Water bottle – clearly named Sun hat – clearly named Book bag – clearly named & please pop in spare set of socks and pants, just in case. Children should wear clearly named school uniform. A snack of fruit is provided.

9 And at the end of their day? It is absolutely vital that your child knows who to look for outside and where that person will be standing. Please step forward and wave. We must be informed in writing if anyone different is collecting your child. In emergency, please phone the school but there may be a delay to releasing the child until the message is communicated. Our absolute priority is to admit and dismiss the children calmly and safely.

12 How will I be involved? All About Me meetings Tapestry Wow Walls Progress meetings and mini-reports – different timings to the main school. ‘Open Door’ events Assemblies End of year summative report

13 How can I help? Help your child to recognise their name and ensure all items brought to school are clearly named. Say goodbye at the glazed link doors to encourage independence from day 1. Prepare your child’s tummy for a hot meal every lunchtime! Have fun filling in your ‘All About Me’ booklet. Please give us as much information as you can and think about any questions you would like to ask us.

14 Any questions? Staff will be assisting with serving lunch today. Please feel free to ask questions but important information must be submitted in writing.
