5 Pointers for the First Day
The bell will go at 8:55. Bring the children into the reception playground – an opportunity for you to take a memorable photo of your child on their first day at school. The children will be taken by staff into the classrooms. Please leave your child at the door – they may get upset but we are very experienced and they will soon settle in – please do not go into the classrooms with your child.

6 Getting them used to routines and developing independence
Children will take their own coats off and be supported to do this and hang them up if necessary (please make sure they are labelled). Please allow the teacher to lead the children into the school to hang up coats and settle them down. Children can bring a water bottle and this must be labelled – they bring this in themselves. Please be at school promptly each day to collect your child as this can be distressing for them. It is important that the younger sibling is collected first before older siblings please. Please make sure we know who is collecting your child at the end of the day and if there are changes, please write a note to your child’s teacher or ring the office.

We have our own Attendance Officer and we are strict on NO holidays during term time – we want the children to be prepared for life long learning and citizenship and the odd day off for something trivial does not set them up for life. Bad habits now remain as bad habits as adults!

Illnesses: Infectious illnesses MUST be reported immediately (e.g. Chickenpox, Measles,Conjunctivitis) Sickness: If your child has a stomach or sickness bug THEY MUST remain at home for 48 hours after the last bout. Prescription only medicines can be administered. If your child becomes ill during the day we will make contact with you immediately and ask you to come and collect or arrange for another person to collect on your behalf. You MUST keep your contact details up to date.
