 Dual credit program through TVCC  Dual Credit - Credit is earned for both high school and college at the same time  Classes offered on PHS campus & online and at TVCC during the summer semesters

 Goal of Wildcat University – Students graduate from TVCC “Core Complete”  Core Complete: Specific set of courses recognized by all Texas state colleges and universities

COURSES SEMESTER HOURS ENGL 1301 & HIST 1301 & ENGL 2322 & BIOL 1406 & 1407 BIOL 2401 & 2402 CHEM 1411 & 1412 PHYS 1415 & MATH 1314 & 1342 MATH 2312 & GOVT 2305 & ECON SPCH 1315 or SPAN 1411/ ARTS 1301 or MUSI TOTAL44 HOURS WILDCAT PALESTINE HIGH SCHOOL TVCC CORE COMPLETE PLAN

 To be eligible the student must: › Be classified as a junior or senior › Meet the college entrance requirements (TSI) › Remain enrolled in and satisfy the requirement(s) of the college course(s) › Meet Wildcat University deadlines

 Palestine High School will pay the dual credit tuition and/or fees and provide the textbooks necessary for ASSIGNED dual credit courses dependent on the student’s GPA. Other college credit courses that a student chooses to take will be taken at that student’s expense.  PHS will only pay “in-district” tuition. Students who live outside the PISD/TVCC district must pay the additional fees for living out-of-district.  If a student does not receive credit in the dual credit course for any reason (i.e.: fails a course or withdraws from the course before the end of the semester) PHS will not pay tuition and/or fees or provide books for the student again until he or she successfully completes a semester of dual credit at that student’s expense.

 PHS will not pay tuition and/or fees or provide books for a student if the student fails to return a textbook or pay for a damaged textbook in the preceding semester(s).  Students must meet all scheduling deadlines set by the counseling center to continue to qualify for Wildcat University.  If a student is assigned to DAEP or is suspended from school he or she may be removed from the Wildcat University program.  PHS Administration reserves the right to remove a student from Wildcat University.

 Courses that will help you become “CORE COMPLETE”  Students will meet with Mrs. Johnson prior to each semester to plan for the upcoming semester

 TVCC and PISD limit the number of dual credit courses that may be taken in the first semester classes are taken:  Junior (above 3.0 GPA): 15 hours per semester  Junior (below 3.0 GPA): 6 hours per semester  Senior (above 3.0 GPA): 15 hours per semester  Senior (below 3.0 GPA): 6 hours per semester  Students may need to attend summer classes to graduate core complete

 HOW do I apply? Complete your application and bacterial meningitis form and return to Mrs. Johnson ASAP **All signatures are STUDENT signatures

 ALL students who attend a class on a college or university campus MUST have a bacterial meningitis shot  Vaccine is good for 5 years

 The TSI is designed to measure competency in reading, writing & math  It is used for placement purposes  Reading  Writing  Math  **Students MUST pass all 3 parts

 TSI - $15 per test › Given at PHS › Students MUST preregister › See list of TSI dates  Students only retest on sections they fail  TSI – TVCC or TJC

 The purpose of this assessment is to find out what level you should start your coursework.  If you do not place at “college level,” that means you need to focus on your high school work at this time. This is not uncommon.

 Students MUST meet Wildcat University deadlines.  If you miss the deadline you must register on your own and your tuition and books WILL NOT be provided even if you meet entrance criteria.  Deadline for Summer 2016: MARCH 28  Deadline for Fall 2016: MAY 20

 Students must complete: › TVCC Application TVCC Bacterial Meningitis Form › Concurrent Form › Wildcat University Contract  **All TSI tests must be passed › Reading › Writing › Math

 TSI – Given at PHS › Cost: $5 per test – students MUST preregister  Deadline for Wildcat University test scores and paperwork › March 28 – Summer classes › May 20 – Fall classes
