2 2 Information High school juniors or seniors earn credit from both TCCD and FWISD Only 2 dual credit courses per semester allowed Must maintain a grade of “C” (2.0 GPA) in each course dual credit course taken to continue in any dual credit course the following semester/school year All students must take the TSI test with the first test at no cost Second or subsequent TSI tests cost $11 Students must maintain a grade of “B” (3.0 GPA) or higher to get Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) measures All students will use FWISD transportation for courses taught on a TCC campus All students must submit evidence of being immunized against bacterial meningitis within the past years for admission to TCC

3 3 Cost for Dual Credit Courses TCCD courses cost $55 per credit hour, a typical 3 hour course is $165 (other rates may apply depending on residence status) Financial aid is available: students must complete a FAFSA to be eligible for the TCC Dual Credit Grant Tuition is paid by FWISD for those students who qualify for free or reduced lunch that are in a campus dual credit academy. Tuition is paid for by the Career and Technology Department for all students in a CTE dual credit course. All free or reduced lunch applications and paper work must be up to date. If a student does not attend the last day of school they lose their eligibility for free or reduced lunch and must reapply FWISD provides all textbooks for students in the FWISD dual credit classes Payment for courses or payment plan is due the official first day of TCC semester. Tuition is paid directly to TCC’s business office.

4 4 Eligibility Completion of high school sophomore year Overall “B” (3.0 GPA) average Qualifying test scores on TSI, SAT, ACT, PSAT, or STAAR To continue eligibility students earning a “C” (2.0 GPA) in each course attempted must complete a TCCD Early High School Enrollment form each semester

5 5 Test Score Requirement CourseTSISATACT STAARPSAT ENGL 1301 & 1302 ENGL 2322 & 2323; HIST 1301, & 1302; GOVT 2305; PSYC 2301; SOCI 1301; ECON 2301 Reading - at least 351 Writing – Essay score of 5; Essay score of 4 and multiple choice of 363 A combined critical reading and mathematics score of 1070 with: At least 500 on critical reading for an exemption in reading and writing A composite score of 23 with: At least 19 on math for an exemption in math and/or At least 19 on English for an exemption in reading and writing At least Level 2 on the English III end-of-course (EOC) for an exemption in reading and writing Only entering JUNIORS are eligible for this waiver A combined score of 107 with: A minimum of 50 on the critical reading for an exemption in reading and writing

6 6 Grading Dual credit courses will be taught and grades assessed according to TCC standard collegiate practices Progress report grades will be given to students, however, only the semester average will be on a student’s report card Grades can be accessed through WebAdvisor by the student Students will follow the course syllabus provided by their professors (including test dates, project due dates, etc.) Students are responsible for turning assignments in on time or making arrangements for assignments to be turned in on time Students participating in a high school extracurricular activity that cause them to miss class, MUST have permission to participate from their dual credit instructor prior to the event, if not these absences may not be excused

9 9 Steps to Apply 1.Complete the ACTIVE Apply application online By January 17th. 2.Sign up to participate in the PAA by Jan. 19 th in Room 123. 3.Participate in the Pre-Assessment activity/video January 21 st in the library 4.Take the TSI exam January 28 th and PASS bot the reading and writing portions. 5.Complete all paperwork for TCC enrollment by March 10 th. 6.*Complete the Free/Reduced Lunch Application (NOW) at http://www.fwisd.org/pages/FWISD/Departments_Programs/Departments__A- K_/Child_Nutrition_Services/Free_and_Reduced_Lunches

10 10 Texas Success Initiative January 28th-Students will be transported to TCC Trinity River Campus for testing. Students who do not have qualifying test scores must pass reading and writing sections of the TSI before enrollment.
