Welcome Adults we will have working in year 1: Mrs Bennett and Mrs White (Class Teachers) Miss Young (Student Teacher) Mrs James & Mrs Morgan (LSAs) Mrs Dodge (Supporting Teacher) Mrs Crisp & Miss Peek (PPA cover)

Reading All children are expected to read at least 3x a week. Please record this in their purple communication books. Children will receive words and sounds to practise at home in addition to this. Please discuss what children are reading with them. Children will read with an adult at school weekly.

Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation Children will be expected to spell all words from the year 1 spelling list at the end of this academic year. Please see grammar handout for further details on the end of year expectations in this area.

Maths Please see the sheets provided for end of year expectations.

Homework Children are expected to read at home 3x per week. Children will be given Maths and English on alternating weeks. Children will be given 5 high frequency words or topic based vocabulary each week to be tested on Friday.

PE PE days are Monday and Wednesday Essex Education Authority states that no child may participate in PE wearing earring of any description. Please ensure that all children’s earrings are removed prior to their lessons as staff are unable to assist.

CEOP To protect your child while using the internet at home CEOP provides a ‘help button’ that children can use. NEVER ban the internet – they will never tell you if they see something bad if they fear it being taken away! STRANGER DANGER – Exists online, this could be a stranger gaining information about your child through games such as ‘Club Penguin’. Social Networking – Every image uploaded holds a digital postcode. Please consider when uploading images of your child in school uniform, tagging yourself and children in places etc
