Parent Information Parent Board The Parent Board is located near the front door of the classroom. I will post all important information on the parent board, and I will also place a copy in your child’s folder. Parent File All completed work will be placed in your child’s folder. The folders are located in a box near the classroom door. Also, you will find notes and reminders from me in this file. A newly \ newsletter will also be placed in the parent files.

Homework Planners Students will copy their homework assignments from the board into their student planners. I allow time each day for students to write their assignments in their planners and I will check the planners before they leave. *** We are still waiting for our order of student planners to come in. I apologize for this delay and how the first week of homework being a bit hectic. *** Typical nightly homework Students will receive: - math homework - spelling homework - weekly reading log

Homework Continued… Study Hall Study hall will be held in our classroom from 3:30-4:00pm Monday – Thursday. There is no study hall on Fridays. I plan on not assigning homework on Fridays. My goal My goal is to have a majority of their homework completed during study hall. Of course this does not always happen but it is what I will strive for. Extra assignments In some cases, unfinished class work may be sent home to be completed.

Classroom Volunteers Wanted Parent-Teacher Conferences Conferences There will be four parent-teacher conferences held throughout the year. The conferences are held at the end of each quarter. I will post a sign-up sheet on my door prior to the conference day. Progress Portfolios I will be keeping portfolios of your child's work throughout the year. Samples of work across the curriculum will be kept in the portfolio for review at conference time.

Remember that school starts at 8:30am and instructional time ends at 3:30pm, with Study Hall from 3:30 to 4:00pm. Please tell the front office or me through or in person if you plan on: - taking your child during the day - will be in late - will be absent Vacations If you plan on going on vacation during the academic year, please let me know in advance and I will create assignments for them to work on.

Classroom Expectations and Agreements Expectations Students are expected to be respectful, courteous, honest, and follow directions. Students are expected to work with each other and work together towards common class goals. Agreements The class came up with the following agreements: 1. Stay on task 2. Work quietly 3. Stay in your seat unless you receive permission 4. Do not talk when the speaker is talking 5. Always be prepared and organized 6. Participate and try your best 7. Be respectful to others 8. Be kind, caring and help your classmates

Classroom Volunteers Wanted Contacts Cont. Reward Systems Class points When the classroom agreements are being followed or the class is doing awesome as a whole they will receive points. When the points jar is full, they will receive a class reward. Tickets Tickets are an individual reward system. Students will receive tickets for being on task, working hard, helping a friend, etc. Table points Table points are giving when the whole table is on task, supporting each other, etc.

Classroom Volunteers Wanted Student of the week Each student will have the opportunity to be the student of the week at some point during the year. The student of the week will be given a poster to complete. The poster will enable the students to share facts, hobbies, and interests about themselves with their classmates. The poster will be featured in the classroom for the week. Furthermore, the whole class will write a letter to the student of the week.

Time to Party! Parties Halloween Thanksgiving Winter holidays Spring Holidays End of the year ** Students will also have a party or possibly parties as a reward if the “Class points” container is full. ** Birthdays If you would like to bring a treat to celebrate your child’s birthday, please let me know ahead of time.
