Homeroom Presentation for current Sophomore and Juniors

Do you have what you need to graduate? 1. Obtain a copy of the EHS Course Catalog (also available on EHS webpage) 2. Use your academic history and credit check form to cross off credits that have been completed. (Credit check form located 3. on the last page of the Course Catalog) 4. Review your Level 5 report for proficiencies met/remaining – choose courses that will allow you to finish needed areas

3. Review WaNIC Course Options (prev. NEVAC) Skills Center classes available to WaNIC students include (3+ credits): Animation Academy (AP), Architectural & Engineering Design, Automotive Technology, CISCO Networking, Computer Game Programming and Design (AP), Construction Trades, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Horticulture/Floriculture, International Entrepreneurship, Robotics Design and Development, Sports and Entertainment Management/Marketing WaNIC Programs (1-2 credits) refer to pg 57 of the course catalog for full program listings; Classes are held at local area high schools. In addition, distance learning classes in Health and 3-D Animation are offered Registration for WaNIC classes is a separate process from registration for Eastlake classes. To enroll in a WaNIC class, students must complete and print the application on the WaNIC website and arrange for a class visit. Please go to the Career Center for information and assistance with the registration process. Selecting Classes - February 23 rd (cont.)

4. Review Junior/Sophomore Worksheets (back of catalog ) Complete worksheet with schedule requests: Must have at least 6.0 credits – (may have 7.0 credits if they register for a before or after school course at EHS) Identify prerequisites Must select 4 alternate electives Leadership, TA and WaNIC are not choices to enter in the computer – (handwrite course at the bottom of page and asterisk elective(s) to drop if enrolled) Running Start students register for 6 EHS classes at the time of registration. No more than 2 AP classes are recommended for most students. AP classes typically have prerequisites and separate application deadlines. Leadership requires an application to enroll.

Half the homeroom classes will go to the elective fair the first 10 minutes of homeroom and the other half will go the last 10 minutes. Please also follow instructions on the following slide for Feb. 25 th registration procedure.

Students receive directions for completing computer registration and printing from home. Students receive the Course Request Signature sheet on which to print their schedule from home. Students must bring back signed form to homeroom on March 4 th. *If the signature sheet is lost, students may print on blank paper and then submit to their homeroom teacher with the required parent signature.

March 1-4 Homeroom teachers continue to assist students in planning schedules Counselors are available to answer questions for students who have difficult situations or unusual circumstances.

Students who do not have the printed Course Request Signature Sheet will use homeroom time during March 8 and 9 to register at EHS. Place all materials in manila folder. On class list highlight those returned with parent signature; check those done in homeroom without parent signature; note students not yet registered and the reason why. Return the registration packet to the appropriate counselor by the end of the day, Friday, March 12.
