BEHAVIORAL NORMS Follow teacher requests immediately. Treat each other politely and kindly. Treat school and personal property respectfully. Be prepared for class and ready to start when the bell rings. Make a good effort at your work and request help if you need it. Raise your hand and wait to be called upon before speaking.

WHAT WILL I LEARN? ¿Mito o realidad?

Entering the Room 1.Enter class quietly and go to assigned seat. 2.Begin working on the “ENFOCAMOS” bellwork. There is no talking during the bellwork. * Students should come prepared to class with the following materials: binder, paper, sharpened pencils, class notes, bottled water, and homework assignments. They may not return to their locker after the bell has rung. They should not bring cards, make-up, food, beverages, magazines, photos, electronic devices or other materials not related to the course.

When You are Tardy Enter quietly without speaking to anyone. If the door is shut, wait quietly in the window where I can see you. – Do not knock on the door or try to open it, it is locked. I will let you in as soon as possible. – “As soon as possible” usually means within 30 seconds. Go directly to your assigned seat. Get to work.

When You are Tardy Several times a week there will be a 4-5 question review quiz instead of bellwork. If you are tardy and have an authentic pass, you will be exempted from the quiz. It is your responsibility to bring a pass, do not say that you were called to the office, etc. If you do not have a pass, your unexcused absence will result in a 0 on the quiz.

Class Dismissal Pick up any trash and make sure your desk is lined up with the floor marker. Make sure you understand your homework assignments before you leave. Push your chair in.

¡SILENCIO, POR FAVOR! I will say “¡Silencio, por favor!”. You are to immediately stop talking, face me, and repeat “¡Silencio, por favor!” one time. Remain quiet and wait for further instructions.

Instructional Activities Students are to remain quiet during PA announcements, video clippings, classroom lectures and other appropriate circumstances. Students are to remain seated with their group members during group work and are not to distract others if they finish early. During whole-group activities students must raise their hand and wait to be called upon before speaking. Most classroom activities involve verbal communication amongst the students. It is important that students use quiet voices during class time. Students are expected to ask for help if they need assistance.

After an Excused Absence Check my website and pick up any materials you missed from your hour’s absent folder. Turn in your make up work in the “la tarea” work box on the table by the door. You have 2 days to turn in your work once you return to school. – Please talk with me personally if you have an extended illness or unusual circumstance.

How will I be graded? Grading Scale A A B D See handout for more details. Semester Grade 40% = Marking Period I 40% = Marking Period II 20% = Semester Exam/Project Marking Period 35%Performance Assessments 30%Test and Projects 20% Homework, classwork, speaking activities 15%Participation Points

Participation Points You will start each class period with 3-5 participation points (100%). You keep your points by participating fully in class activities. If at any point you are not on task, you will lose participation points. Be prepared for class by bringing your notebook, pencil, and paper every day!

Participation Points Arrive on time to class. Be prepared for learning. Bring binder, paper, pencil, and Spanish notes to class every day. Do not bring cell phone or other materials to class that cause distractions to yourself or others. Do not distract other students from the classroom activities. Be seated in assigned seat when the bell rings. Immediately begin the warm-up activity written on the dry erase board when the bell rings. Be prepared and able to turn in your homework assignment as soon as the bell rings. Invest 100% of your attention in the classroom activities. Be respectful to other class members. No foul language. Headphones and other electronic devices are never used or visible during class. Raise your hand and wait to be called upon before speaking during whole group activities. Follow teacher requests immediately. Remain in seat until bell rings. Use bathroom and go to locker before class begins. Do not ask to go to locker or bathroom.

Passes – 3 per Semester There are no passes the 1 st ten minutes of class. There are no passes the last 10 minutes of class. There are no passes during group activities. There are no passes if your class work is not finished. There are no passes to the counseling office, ITC, main office, etc.
