State Police  The state police make between 30, 000 and 45,000 starting out.  The highest paying industries for correctional officers are the federal government.  State and local governments have better job opportunities, in which their salaries are at 256,880 and 160,310. State and Local law Enforcement  State police officers, troopers, and members of the highway patrol keep our roads safe and help troubled motorists throughout the land. While some focus on handing out citations to vehicle code violators, others may participate in traffic accident and criminal investigations, gather forensic evidence, or patrol interstate commercial vehicles. 7

Certified Intelligence Agency  Clandestine Services (Spies) earned between 52,976 and 81,204 in the year  Analytical Positions ( economic analyst, military analyst) made 49, 861 or 97,333 depending on their experience.  Language Officer salary is between 51,630 and 94,837 in  Language officers who are fluent prior to employment in languages such as Arabic, Dari, Korean, Farsi and Russian, are eligible for a hiring bonus of up to $35,000.  Scientist and Engineers make about 64,548 or 155,500 per year, well depending on experience, also. 9

Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms  You have to be between 21 and 37 to be hired. Special agents may retire if they have 20 years of service at age 50; mandatory retirement is at age 57.  An ATF special agent is responsible for investigating violations of federal law that are related to firearms, explosives, arson, and illegal alcohol and tobacco distribution.  Starting salaries for these positions with the ATF range from $30,000 to $38,000, based on prior experience and the pay grade an applicant is assigned upon accepting employment. 10
