2. Lawyer There are two main types of lawyers. They are Barristers and Solicitors. Barristers are also called advocates or trial lawyers, handle civil and criminal law suits. In general barristers research legal precedents, gather evidence, advise clients and initiate legal actions and present a defense on behalf of a client or prosecute the case. Solicitors deal with the areas which generally do not require courtroom appearances. In general, solicitors act as advisors in legal transactions, draft documents and contracts, handle the transfer of property, administer estates, and incorporate companies.

State and local judges serve from four to six years in limited jurisdiction position; fourteen years in an appellate court. Certification is not required, but it increases job prospects. Some firms prefer to promote experienced legal secretaries, or new college grads, into paralegal positions, and then train them to their own specifications. 9. Government & Law Summary Jobs in the Government and Law fields are becoming increasingly better and more hard to get. Police officers are becoming more and more open due to the fact that 158 police die a year in the line of duty. Younger and fresher lawyers and judges are needed in the ever growing field. Overall, there will be a lot of job openings in these fields. The growth of the field is near 5% a year and is a good field to get into.
