Myth or Fact? Myth: You can catch Herpes by holding hands with an infected person Fact: Most STI’s cannot be transmitted by holding hands, sharing eating utensils, kissing, or using public toilet seats.

How are STI’S Spread? Any sexual activity that brings a person in contact with body fluids from an infected person Any sexual activity in which one person’s genitals contacts another person’s skin or mucous membranes Direct contact with open sores or infected blood A mother to her baby before or during birth, or during breast-feeding Most STI’s need to live in warm, moist areas—that’s why they infect the mouth, rectum, and sex organs
