3 The 4-1-1 on STI’s cont.  Early diagnosis and treatment can decrease the possibility of serious complications, such as infertility in both men and women  Many STI’s are asymptomatic and remain undetected and untreated

4 MINORS 12 YEARS OR OLDER MAY CONSENT FOR THEIR OWN STI TESTING AND TREATMENT IN CALIFORNIA

5 How Are STI’s Spread? Ways that STIs are spread include: any sexual activity…  contact with body fluids from infected person  skin to skin or skin to mucus membrane contact direct contact with open sores mother to baby

6 STDs and Teens  Behaviors that put teens at risk of STIs include: being sexually active having more than one sexual partner having a sexual partner who has had multiple sexual partners using alcohol or drugs
