5 Gonorrhea  Symptoms start 2-21 days after intercourse  Mostly asymptomatic  Women  Thick yellow or gray discharge from the vagina  Burning or pain while urinating  Abnormal periods, or bleeding between periods  Cramping or abdominal pain

6 Gonorrhea  If you don’t get treated  Spread it to new partners  Infections and reproductive organs can be damaged  Infertility  Can be transmitted during childbirth to the baby  Can cause heart trouble, skin disease, arthritis, and blindness.  How to get it  Vaginal, Anal, or Oral sex. How to treat it? Antibiotics

8 Hepatitis B  Symptoms show up 1-9 months after initial contact  Mostly asymptomatic  Flu like feelings that persist  Fatigue  Jaundice  Dark urine, light colored bowl movements

9 Hep B  If you don’t get treated  Can be spread sexually or through needle sharing  Some people recover completely  Some people cannot be cured. Symptoms go away but they become carriers  Permanent liver damage  Can transmit during childbirth  How you get it  Oral, vaginal, or anal sex  How to treat it? Anti-virals, interferon, liver transplant

11 Herpes  Symptoms show up 1-30 days, or longer, after being infected  Some people are asymptomatic  Flu like feeling  Blisters on the sex organs or mouth for 1-3 weeks at a time  Itching or burning with the blisters  Blisters come and go, but you still have herpes

12 Herpes  If you don’t get treated  It cannot be cured  Transmittable during childbirth  How you get it  Oral, vaginal, or anal sex, and sometimes genital touching  How to treat it? Cannot be cured but can be treated with antivirals

14 HPV/Genital Warts  Symptoms show up weeks, months, or years after contact  Can be present for many years with no symptoms  Small bumpy warts on the sex organs and cervix  Itching or burning around sex organs  Virus stays in the body after the warts go away  Can cause cervical cancer and infertility

15 HPV/ Genital Warts  If you don’t get treated:  Can be transmitted to your sex partners  Most forms go away on their own in 2 years  Warts can go away on their own, but can also grow bigger and spread.  Transmittable during childbirth  Can lead to cervical cancer  Spread through vaginal, anal, and oral sex  HPV is not treatable, cervical cancer is treatable.

17 Syphilis  1 st stage  Symptoms show up 1-12 weeks after contact  Painless sores on the mouth or sex organs  Lasts 2-6 weeks  Goes away but you still have syphilis  2 nd stage  symptoms show up as the sore heals or after  Rash anywhere on the body  Flu like feelings  Rash and flu like feelings go away but you still have syphilis

18 Syphilis  If you don’t get it treated  Transmittable to baby or can cause a miscarriage  Heart disease, brain damage, blindness, death How do you get it? Oral, Vaginal, and Anal sex. Sometimes genital touching How to treat it: Antibiotics

20 Trichomoniasis  Symptoms show up 3-14 days after having sex  Many times it’s asymptomatic  Women:  Itching, buring, or irritation in the vagina  Yellow, green, or grayish discharge

21 Trichomoniasis  If you don’t get it treated  Can be spread to partners  Men can get infections in the prostate gland Spread during vaginal sex Treated with antibiotics
