Career Development Vision Provide a comprehensive program of support for alumni, including career services, professional education, and access to an alumni network that works for them. Regional Club Career Program Goal 2014/2015 Develop and implement a sustainable model for regional clubs to facilitate career development events that focus on engaging the U-M network and driving membership.

Regional Connection Goal: Deliver dynamic and relevant regional career programing. Branding Goal: Provide marketing driven career programing. Membership Goal: Provide career programing at all life stages that drives membership.

2014/2015 Regional Career Programing Develop and implement a sustainable model for regional clubs to facilitate career development events that focus on engaging the U-M network and driving membership.  Identify six primary clubs for pilot (New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Grand Rapids, LA, Seattle). Add 4 secondary clubs for pilot (Northville, Washington D.C., Boston, and Silicon Valley). Expand to all major metro and region 5 clubs in  Identify career programing chairs and supportive volunteers for each of the clubs.  Developing regional double down programing that is directed by the career team, but facilitated by regional career programing chairs. Three Event Programing Models: Networking, 30 Minute Mentors, Job Skills Workshops Resources: Program Training, Volunteer Aggregation, Registration and Survey Creation Support: Marketing, Peer to Peer Club, Financial  Track programing and membership acquisition.

Networking Events Networking events are open to all levels of career experience. Attendees will make in-person connections with U-M alumni and have the chance to learn from industry professionals. The Alumni Association’s regional Professional Networking events start with open networking followed by facilitated career education in the form of a panel discussion or keynote presentation with attendees hearing from alumni experts on various topics. The event format may include speed networking. Cost to Implement: Up to $ per event (venue, light food & beverage) Member/Non-Member Pricing: $10.00 Members/$25.00 Non-Members Anticipated Revenue: $ per event (based on alumni attending) Volunteers Needed: At a minimum 3 alumni volunteers to plan & implement.

Job Skills Workshops Presented by one of the Alumni Association’s regional preferred career coaches, recruiters, or a career professional, these workshops are designed to assist alumni who are seeking employment with hands on skill development with their resume, interview skills, and job search practices. Cost To Implement: Up to $ per event (venue, light food & beverage, coach/recruiter) Member/Non-Member Pricing: $10.00/$25.00 for non-members Anticipated Revenue: $ per event (based on alumni attending) Volunteers Needed: At a minimum 2 alumni volunteers to plan & implement.

30 Minute Mentors Alumni to alumni peer mentoring that takes place in 30 minute increments. A 30 Minute Mentor session highlights 5-10 alumni who serve as mentors (from a variety of industries) for a 2-3 hour event. Alumni seeking mentorship review the biographies of the mentors prior to attending the session and sign up once they get to the event on a first come first serve basis. One-on-one mentoring takes place in conjunction with open networking between mentees. Cost To Implement: Up to $ per event (venue, A/V light food & beverage) Member/Non-Member Pricing: Members Complimentary/$25.00 Non- Members Anticipated Revenue: $ per event (based on 6 non-members attending) Volunteers Needed: At a minimum 3 alumni volunteers to plan & implement.

30 Minute Mentors: Now  We identified ten mentors prior to today’s workshop to serve as “mentors”.  Mentors completed our online career development volunteer form that included biographical information.  The remaining club volunteers who are not mentors will be mentees of today and have signed up to meet with one of our mentors.  Before your session starts please review the mentor/mentee guidelines for today’s session.  Topics for mentoring sessions: Intros/Career background/Involvement with the Club What career programing has been successful? Fact: There is currently a network of 11 career coaches in eight regions across the country.

Fact: Over 70% of our webinar participants are employed and seeking career advancement.

Alumni Job Board Alumni Employers use this Resource We want high-quality candidates who are able to contribute immediately upon being hired and trained. The UM does a great job educating its students! ~ Alumni Employer How The Program Works 1.The Alumni Job board is hosted on the Alumni Association’s website. 2.Exclusively for Alumni Association members and requires login with unique name. 3.Positions can be searched by region and career field. 4.Alumni employers create and manage their accounts, there is no cost to post a position. 5.Alumni apply for positions directly through the companies website. Fact: 400 unique employers have posted with the Alumni Association in the job board’s first six months.
