NM Statewide Traffic Records System Data Center Project Project Certification Overview Prepared by: NM-DOT Traffic Safety Bureau April 23, 2008

Presenters: Robert Ashmore, DOT CIO NM Department of Transportation Sandra Martinez, Program Director NM Department of Transportation, Traffic Safety Bureau Victor Berg, System Architect (Acting Project Manager) Traffic Safety Bureau, Bency & Associates

STRS Data Center Project Synopsis Provide multiple agencies with the possibilities of linking traffic data systems that contain crash, citation, DWI, justice, driver, roadway, medical and economic data. Improve the compatibility and interoperability of State data systems with National data systems and other States. Enhance the ability to observe and analyze national, state, local, and tribal trends in traffic related occurrences, rates, outcomes, and circumstances, in accordance with national initiatives.

STRS DC Implementation The implementation will address the following deliverables: Workflow Automation: Electronic data exchange between Law Enforcement and the Courts, Motor Vehicles and Department of Transportation. Analytic and Reporting: Information sharing via statewide Analytic & Reporting Solution by providing Statewide reporting for law enforcement traffic & DWI data, crash data and eventually Court/MVD/DOH data in a comprehensive and integrated reporting format Data Entry Center: Gathering electronic data from law enforcement agencies too small for a TRACS rollout or not wishing to support TRACS.

STRS DC Lifecycle

Benefits to Stakeholders and Users Improve Customer Service: Capture traffic records data to improve the quality, accuracy, integrity, timeliness, completeness, consistency and accessibility for law enforcement, state and federal agencies and the public. Enhance quality of operations and data sharing: Capturing electronic records data and storing the data in a centralized database for New Mexico agencies that share, monitor, and traffic records data and perform any type of statistical analysis. Systems Integration: The Systems Integration effort requires the following data exchanges (electronic interfaces): LEA to their own RMS, LEA to the Courts, LEA to MVD, and LEA to DOT. Reporting and Analytics: Develop an enterprise reporting solution that moves manual reporting to an automated process.
