Long Term Effect of Rape Obsessive compulsive disorder Depression Anxiety and panic attacks Self-harm Promiscuity Lack of self-esteem Let’s look briefly at the long-term effects of rape: obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, self-harm, promiscuity, lack of self-esteem. As you can see these issues don’t escape the psyche. It is not uncommon to see a psychiatrist and perhaps take anti-anxiety drugs or other medicines just to cope with the psychological effects of the rape event – at least for a while.
