Understanding the Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP) Part 1: The Local Control Funding Formula & LCAP

California School Funding Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) in 2013-14 Block Grants General Fund Economic Impact Aid Instructional Materials Base Grant Targeted Instructional Assistance Gifted & Talented Concentration Grant MS/HS Supplemental Counseling Supplemental Grant Professional Development Oral Health Assessments Early Childhood Special Education State Grants Federal Grants Federal Programs

Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) (Generated by student attendance) Adjustments for: State Grants Federal Grants Federal Programs Early Childhood Special Education Base Funding by Grade Range: K-3 4-6 7-8 9-12 K-3 Class Size HS Career Tech Demographics Low Income English Learner Foster Youth The Local Control Funding Formula or LCFF is meant to simplify school funding and provide additional resources to students with greater need. [CLICK] Under the Local Control Funding Formula, school districts receive a base funding allocation for each and every student depending on grade level. Students in grades K-3 receive one level of funding, students in grade 4-6 a higher level of funding, students in 7-8 a small step above that and students in 9-12 the highest base funding. That base allocation is the same between every school district. Added to that base funding are adjustments for K-3 class size and HS Career Tech for each student in the appropriate grades. The other adjustment made for San Juan Unified is [CLICK] additional funding for students who qualify as low income, English learners or foster youth. This is known as the [CLICK] supplemental grant, it can be used for any purpose that local districts see fit as long as it is used to improve outcomes for the students who generated it. LCFF also requires creation of a Local Control Accountability Plan or LCAP. Supplemental Grant 11/18/2018
