Restricting BID-Level Access to a Contract Some customer contract administrators want to prevent their partner’s BID-level users from viewing or opening cases for the products on their contract. Those who want to allow access for certain partner users can explicitly grant the users access to it. One of the original principles of Cisco Service Access is that a Partner who sells a service contract to an end customer can allow their own partner employees to create and view service requests on the customer’s behalf. To ease the administration of access for these partner users, SAMT provides BID-level association, which grants those users access to all contracts sold under that BID. Some customers use SAMT to self-administer service access to the contract they purchased through a partner, because they want to assume primary responsibility for managing access to their services data. However, users who are granted BID-level access bypass those controls, creating potential internal security exposures. Click to continue

Restricting BID-Level Access to a Contract Restricting BID-Level Access to a contract is performed on the SAMT Lock/Unlock screen. Because the restriction is set on an individual Contract, click on the “Using Contract Number” sub-tab. The BID-level Access for each contract is displayed in the table. The default BID-level Access for all contracts is “Enabled.” Click to continue
