Assessing your child at the end of Year 2 The children will NOT know they are doing a 'test' ALL final assessments are the teacher's judgements Tests are used to inform teacher's judgements but are NOT necessarily the judgement that is recorded

Assessments informed by tests in the following areas: READING Children are assessed on their ability to respond to texts by answering written questions based on their reading SPAG (NEW for 2016) Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar MATHS Children will answer questions involving a range of number work plus those requiring them to apply Maths to different contexts

Reading There are 2 reading papers One paper is more demanding than the other A time limit is advised Assesses a range of reading skills not just word recognition

SPAG – New for 2016 2 papers 1 spelling paper (20 words) 1 grammar, punctuation and vocabulary paper (mainly closed questions where children choose an answer from a selection or add punctuation in the correct place etc)
