1 Key Stage 1 SATs Marlborough Primary School
Tuesday 25th September 2018 Article 28: Every child has the right to a good quality education.

2 What are SATs? Tests given at the end of Key Stage 1:
Maths, Reading Comprehension, Spelling and Grammar. There is no writing test but is based on Teacher Assessment. Results are reported to Parents, LEA and Government. Used as a means of comparing all schools nationally and similar schools.

3 Who Does SATs? Every state school in the country
Every child at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6).

4 Assessment Reporting. Test scores will be reported as ‘scaled scores’ which are converted to working towards, expected or greater depth. Teacher assessments are also used to build up a picture of your child’s learning and achievements. In addition, your child will receive an overall result saying whether they have achieved the required standard in the tests.

5 Scaled Scores What is meant by ‘scaled scores’? The scaled score of 100 will always represent the ‘national standard’. Each pupil’s raw test score, i.e their actual score, will therefore be converted into a score on the scale, either at, above or below 100.

6 Interpretation of Scaled Scores
On publication of the test results in July 2019: A child awarded a scaled score of 100 is judged to have met the ‘national standard’ (at expected) in the area judged by the test. A child awarded a scaled score of more than 100 is judged to have exceeded the national standard (working at greater depth). A child awarded a scaled score of less than 100 is judged to have not yet met the national standard (working towards expected)
