1 2019 End of Key Stage 2 SATs

2 What are SATs? In England and Wales all pupils at the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) are tested in English and Mathematics. The 2019 SATs are tests to assess the National Curriculum was the first year of the new tests. The government expectation is for all Year 6 pupils to attain the standard of 100 for English and Maths. All children will take the tests. M

3 2019 End of Key Stage 2 SATs Week
Monday 13th to Thursday 16th May 2019 No leave of absence requests during this week please. Please ring school ASAP on the day if your child is going to be absent.

4 English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - Paper 1 (45 minutes short answer questions) Spelling – Paper 2 Reading (1 hour to read and answer questions based on a fiction text, non- fiction text and poem/another text) No writing test (teacher assessed) Mathematics No calculator allowed in any tests. Arithmetic Paper 1 (30 minutes) Reasoning Paper 2 (40 minutes) Reasoning paper 3 (40 minutes)

5 Preparation in School Groups for English and maths.
Practice SATs in the main hall. Using test analysis to identify specific areas in reading, EGPS and maths to focus on. Test techniques. Homework will also be based upon revision and refer to suggested pages in books or paper copies will be provided.

6 How to help your child at home.
Keep up with homework Lots of practice with basic skills: reading widely and talking about reading learning spelling rules and word lists for Year 6 times tables and division facts up to 12x12, standard written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
