Rainforest By:Angel and Jack

What is a rain forest? A rainforest is a place where many animals live. It also rains all the time. Many people think most animals haven’t been discovered in the rainforest.

Location of Rain Forests Rainforest are located in North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. They are across the equator.

Emergent Layer The Emergent layer is a home to a few animals. The vicious harpy eagle eats monkeys and sloths. Butterflies and parrots also live in there.

Macaws They are very nice birds. They are very fascinating birds.

Toucans Toucans are very interesting birds. They are very colorful. Their beaks are very long.

Harpy eagle Harpy eagles are the predator of the Emergent layer. The Harpy eagle is a graceful bird but also dangerous.

Canopy Layer A canopy is a place where it covers the under story. Its also under the emergent layer. Intresting animals live in the canopy layer. Toucan, lizards, butterflies and three-toed sloths live here.

Spider Monkeys Spider monkeys are fascinating. They jump very far and are great at swinging.

Sloths Sloths are very slow. People say that moss grow on its fur.

Understory Layer Lots of animals live in the understory. like butterflies, sloths, crickets, ants,and more. Lots of plants live in the understory like lianas, ferns, and orchid plants.

Forest Floor Jaguars, ocelots, tarantulas, beetles and armadillos live in this layer. Lots of plants live on the forest floor. A rafflesia is a plant that smells like rotten meat and it eats flies.

Jaguars Jaguars are interesting animals. They are also vicious animals. They eat fish, meat and plants.

Deforestation Lots of people are destroying rain forests. They do it for land and cattle grazing. They chop the wood for building houses. People are mining silver. Cities grow so they cut down the rain forest.

People of the Rain Forest They get a little help from each other. They know all about the rain forest.

Conclusion You should save the rainforest because there are fruits in the rainforest and medicine for cancer.
