2 What is a Rainforest?

3 A rainforest is a quite damp habitat near the equator that covers 6% of the earth’s surface. Half of the earth’s animal live in the rainforest.

4 Location of Rain Forests

5 The Rainforests are in the following continents such as Asia and many of its islands, Australia, Africa, and South America. They are all located along the equator.

7 Emergent Layer The Emergent layer is the top layer of the rainforest in which the harpy eagle lives. The Emergent is made of trees that stick out of the canopy.

8 Canopy Layer The Canopy layer is the biggest layer of the rainforest.
The following animals live in the canopy: toucans, spider monkeys, green iguanas, tree porcupines, red-eyed tree frogs, katydids, parrots, boa constrictors, three toed slothes, and butterflies.

9 Understory Layer The Understory layer is beneath the Canopy layer.
These animals live there: geckos, ants, parrots, butterflies, spider monkeys, and lizards,

10 Forest Floor The Forest floor is the smallest layer.
Dragonflies, jaguars, butterflies, spiders, ocelots, armadillos, capybaras, and anacondas all live and grow there.

12 Deforestation Deforestation is caused by people burning and cutting trees down for furniture, wood floors and paper. We must save these rainforests. We could plant trees at the rainforest. People cut these trees because under the soil is gold and silver stuck deep in the clay.

13 People of the Rain Forest
Did you know people actually lived in the rainforest? Really, you did. Did you know the people have lived the rainforest for thousands of years? They did, and they still do. The Yanamamo tribe live in the rainforest.
