2 What is a rain forest? A Rain Forest is a type of jungle that gets more than 80 inches of rain a year. Half of the animals live in the Rain Forest.

3 Location of Rain Forests
Rain Forests are located around the equator. Rain Forest are located in North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

4 Emergent Layer There are a lot of animals like the Harpy eagle, toucan, umbrella bird, woolly opossum, and the three toed sloth that live in the emergent layer.

5 Canopy Layer The Canopy is the layer that blocks out the sun. It is the layer that has the most monkeys and birds.

6 Understory Layer The Understory has jaguars, parrots, quills, macaws, tree porcupines, katydids, and butterflies. Young trees are in the Understory.

7 Forest Floor Butterflies, geckos, peccaries, jaguars, crocodiles, and tapirs live on the forest floor. Dead tree trunks decompose on the forest floor.

8 Deforestation So many people are cutting down the Rain Forest trees for wood to build houses. They are being cut down because they mine for gold. Cattle grazing and they building new town.

9 People of the Rain Forest
People of the Rain Forest have been there for many years. They hunt and gather food from the forest.

10 Save The Rain Forest Don’t let the Rain Forest be destroyed by people. The animals will die without their habitat.
