3 What is a rain forest? Rainforests are a special habitat where many plants and animals live together in harmony. It is the most rainy habitat in the world. Rainforests cover 6% of the world, but harbor half of the worlds life forms.

4 Location of Rain Forests Rainforests are found in Asia, Africa, South America, and Australia. They are only found around the equator. South America harbors the biggest rainforest in the world. Australia has the smallest rainforest.

5 Emergent Layer The emergent layer is filled with life. It is the highest layer of the rainforest. It is home mostly to birds.

6 Canopy Layer The canopy has many animals such as toucans, Harpy eagles, Umbrella birds, Three toed sloth's,and the spider monkey’s. The howler monkey is the loudest animal in the canopy.

7 Understory Layer The under story is filled with life. Lots of insects live in the understory like the bush cricket. The hoatzin is a extremely messy bird found in the under story. Also the most poisonous animal the poison dart frog is is found in the under story.

8 Forest Floor One of the coolest animals is the Jacana because it can walk on water. One of the forest floors inhabitants is the hummingbird which can fly upside-down. Also the jaguar lives on the forest on the forest

9 People of the rainforest People of the Rain Forest –There are also Indians in the rainforest. People who live in the rainforest don’t usually hunt together. To grow crops they use a technique called slash and burn. There doctor is called a shaman.

10 Poison dart frog The poison dart frog is an interesting animal. It is the most poisonous amphibian in the world.They are known for their bright colors.

11 The okapi is a harmless plant eater. It is the closest living relative to the giraffe. It has the longest tongue in the world. It also has horns.The okapi is amazing. Okapi

12 Deforestation The rainforest is being cut down at a increasing rate. If we don’t do something the rainforest will disappear in 50 years. The reason for this is humans. Let’s make sure our rainforest will never be as dead as a Dodo.

13 The rainforest is important and deserves to be saved
