Welcome to Art, Textiles & Photography A Level By the end of this course you will: Learn a range of specialist skills and techniques. Develop personal work in response to a theme, making links to specialist practitioners and other sources. Understand how to present and discuss your work to communicate and showcase your ideas effectively.

Art, Textiles & Photography A Level: Course content You will study... Overview Example topics: In Year 12 Art: Explore a range of specialisms including fine art, photography, digital and textiles. Develop research, analysis and presentation skills. Aging and Growth Surfaces of Nature Urban Life Textiles: Explore a range of textiles techniques including printed textiles (digital and traditional), stitch and embroidery and art textiles (which is very open). Develop research, analysis and presentation skills. Patterns in nature Treasured Possessions Edible Delights Photography: Explore technical photographic skills for shooting and editing (editing through Photoshop). Develop skills in response to a chosen brief in order to develop personal and creative photos. Develop research, analysis and presentation skills. Fears & Fascinations The Power of the Media Urban Spaces In Year 13 Component 1: Personal Investigation All courses apply the skills developed in year 12 in order to create personal work, with links to professionals within at least 2 specialist areas of their discipline. This will include a written element (between 1000-3000 words) and must culminate in a final outcome or outcomes. How have Artists / Designers used unconventional techniques within their work? Component 2: Externally Set Assignment Develop personal work in the same format as Component 1 but in response to a choice of topics set by the Exam Board. The final outcome(s) will be produced under timed and supervised conditions (15 hours). Curves Insects The Passing of Time

GCSE in Art & Design / Fashion & Textiles (B Grade or higher) Recording skills – ability to use various forms and media to record from sources Research and Investigative Skills – interest in discovering and understanding through research into artists and other relevant sources for your theme. Creativity, excellent organisation and reflective skills. Expectations and workload 3 formal assessments and additional informal assessments completed throughout academic year Weekly homework will include development of work started in class as well as additional research and presentation The ability to direct your own time independently is essential Photography will require you to have your own DSLR Camera and regularly organise your own shoots on various locations as well as to source your own models
