By the end of this course you will: Learn about how Society works and shapes our lives ...thinking about issues such as why People turn to crime? Develop an understanding of sociological concepts and theories Consider current sociological issues, problems and institutions that affect our lives such as Crime, Poverty, Gender and Ethnicity.

Example topics: In Year 12 Families and Households Childhood, Power Relationships, Changing Patterns. Education Why some Sociological groups achieve higher grades than others? In Year 13 Criminology Why some people offend and others don’t. Beliefs Theory Why would people join a cult? Marxist, Feminist, Functionalist.
