1 Welcome to A Level Physical Education
By the end of this course you will: Study 3 theoretical areas which are physiology, sports psychology and sociocultural issues in sport Learn how to analyse sport and verbally communicate your points Perform to a high level in one sport and be assessed in it

General College entry requirements A grade 5 for GCSE PE including one Level 1 sport Which skills are needed? interpretation of data and graphs quantitative methods for planning, monitoring and evaluating physical training and performance knowledge and use of definitions, equations, formulae and units of measurement ability to plot, label and interpret graphs and diagrams. Knowledge of current events in sport and the ability to confidently analyse performance verbally Expectations and workload 3 internal formal assessments completed per academic year 1-2 homework assignments completed per week (research, exam questions etc) High level of independent reading to support classroom learning An genuine interest in sport
