1 Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral
Unit 5: Investigating Audio Production and Technology Assessor: Shelina Mawani-Markin Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria Charlotte Leeson Assessment Criteria for PASS R= Referral, S = satisfactory, HS = High Standard, VHS = Very High Standard R S HS VHS Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral 1.1 Analyse the requirements  and parameters of an  audio-based problem in  creative media production.         X You have produced an analysis of BBC Radio 1 discussing the content and style in relation to the appeal for the target audience. You have specified who the target audience is which is great. You have commented on various relevant aspects such as presentation style, images, etc. You have not specified which genres BBC Radio 1 is known for playing. You should have illustrated your points about content and style with examples of the content. You could listen to some of the shows and use these examples to illustrate what you need to say about the content and style of BBC Radio 1. You could research more thoroughly the demographics of the radio 1 listenership and the remit of the BBC to further discuss how radio 1 fits within this context. You have commented on both programming and the website. You have analysed a radio 1 news bulletin to a high standard. The comments you have made demonstrate a good understanding of the structure and purpose of a radio 1 news bulletin. You have discussed news values in relation to target audience and have discussed the presentation style, in particular you have identified the use of a music bed and how interviews have been used. Well done. 1.2 Apply research activities to support solutions to an audio-based problem in creative media production. x You have sourced a range of news stories and identified news values. You have justified the order of your stories. In order to achieve a higher grade you should justify your choice of interview clip. You also need to relate your choice of stories to the specific Sound Radio audience.  2.1 Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and present solutions to an You have planned and organised your radio news bulletin script and clearly applied broadcast news writing techniques. You have demonstrated clear development of your script. A good idea is to compare your work to a professional script.  2.2 Apply practical skills, understanding and methods to solve an You have applied practical audio skills and produced an interesting new bulletin. Your  recording is a high standard. Your bulletin is accurate, clear and well read. The biggest area for further development is the interview. A phone interview has caused sound quality problems. It is a shame that you were not able to record another interview face to face.  3.1 Analyse the effectiveness of solutions to an audio based problem in creative media production. Your evaluation is detailed and reflective Charlotte. You have highlighted clearly how you would improve your planning, scripting, recording and editing. You have reflected on audience feedback effectively. You could have included a more detailed comparison with a professional product. Has the student passed the Unit? 2 Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral
Unit 6: Investigating Visual Production and Technology Assessor: Jane Parr Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria; Charlotte Leeson Assessment Criteria for PASS R= Referral, S = satisfactory, HS = High Standard, VHS = Very High Standard R S HS VHS Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral 1.1 Analyse the requirements and parameters of a visual-based problem in creative media production.        x Brilliant idea charlotte and not an easy subject to approach but you have pulled it off well. Choosing something which is accessible to you made it possible to execute your idea. The subject is emotive and it is an issue which many people would be interested in.  1.2 Apply research activities to support solutions to a creative media production Excellent research throughout this project relating to technical elements, creative camera shots which you practiced as part of your primary research. Your secondary research relates to documentary and news footage which directly links to your own chosen subject and you have also researched your subject to include some interesting information about the foster care system so well done. 2.1 Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and present solutions to a You have shown the ability to plan your video and it is clear that your research has helped you to do this. Your project flows well from start to finish. I really admire the fact that you have also asked your neighbours if you could photograph the children (unidentified) to include as part of your video. Well done Charlotte. 2.2 Apply practical skills, understanding and methods to solve a There are a couple of issues with your final outcome but all in all you have made an excellent first attempt at making a visual piece of journalism. You have pointed out that some of the text isn't on screen long enough to read but I also think it could have done with a conclusion as it ends rather abruptly. If I was interested in becoming a foster parent I want to know where to go to get more information. Perhaps a statement about how we need more carers and where to find out more for those who wish to look further into the subject. Good choice of music and your sound and lighting are spot on. You overcame the difficulty of working in a small space so well done. 3.1 Analyse the effectiveness of solutions to a Mature evaluation of your work Charlotte from start to finish which discusses the problems you faced, how you overcame them, what you have learnt form the experinece and what you will take from this to improve in the future. 3 Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral
Unit 7: Investigating Interactive Media Production and Technology Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria; Charlotte Leeson Assessment Criteria for PASS R= Referral, S = satisfactory, HS = High Standard, VHS = Very High Standard R S HS VHS Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral 1.1 Analyse the requirements and parameters of an interactive-based problem in creative media production.     x Well thought through explanation of the term interactive media and it's advantages and disadvantages. Your use of examples is good but could have been discussed in a little more detail. You could discuss some specific examples of interactive media on the BBC website or compare and contract the music map with a print version. Overall you have demonstrated a good understanding and have submitted a useful research plan for your interactive poster. You have researched some different software / apps for producing an interactive poster. Overall, almost very high standard. 1.2 Apply research activities to support solutions to an interactive-based problem in creative media production. You have researched the process of producing an interactive poster using InDesign in detail providing step by step instructions clearly. You should have also provided more detail on how to create a hyperlink and also provided a link to a tutorial video. 2.1 Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and present solutions to an interactive-based You have demonstrated the ability to plan and organise this project through your research portfolio and production diary. You have selected your content to meet the requirements of the brief, and have evidenced decision making through production.  2.2 Apply practical skills, understanding and methods to solve an You have created a poster which meets the brief and gives your audience the information they need. You overcame technical problems very well, and have demonstrated good technical and communication skills. There are some issues with accuracy of grammar, as well as layout and design.  3.1 Analyse the effectiveness of solutions to an In your Evaluation you have included audience feedback comments and you have reflected on some of the strengths and weaknesses suggesting ways in which you would develop your poster. You should have reflected on the audience feedback more, adding a discussion about which aspects of the poster the audience liked / disliked.  Has the student passed the Unit?
