ASSESSMENT for GCSE course Coursework (60% of marks) - A portfolio of work covered in years 10 + 11. Timed Assignment (40% of marks) - There will be 8 weeks planning followed by 2 days to produce a piece of work. Assessment: The work is marked by the Art Teachers and moderated by the exam board ART TEXTILES

Gallery Visits! Workshop at end of Year 9. Art trip abroad in year 10 to Paris, Amsterdam or Berlin. Visits to London galleries and exhibitions. Workshops with visiting artists/ Life drawing for some Yr11 students. ART & TEXTILES

Careers in Art! Fashion Designer, Fashion Promotion & marketing, Journalism. Graphic designer, Illustrator, Layout Artist, Magazine Stylist. Photography, Film Making, Animation. Stage & costume design, Make-up Artist, Hairdressing, Lighting Design. Architecture, Interior Design, Floristry, Landscape Gardening. Ceramic design, Jewellery Designer/ Silversmith. Art therapy, Teaching, Museum Curator. ART & TEXTILES

AS/ A2 Art Textiles A grade B or above in Art or Textiles is expected for AS & A-level. The main requirements are to be committed to the subject and to be enthusiastic. ART TEXTILES

EXAM RESULTS 100% A-C at GCSE 72% A*- B grades 100% A-C at A2 Three of last years A’level students are now on Fashion and Textile degree courses at university. All were offered places without having to do a Foundation year, based on their portfolios and interviews, as well as their exam results. This year five A’level students are going on to do Textiles/Fashion at university. The other two are using their Predicted Grades to gain a place to study other subjects at university. ART TEXTILES

What work will be produced? Designing and making ‘wearables’,using art- based experimentation with materials & techniques. Creating repeat pattern on fabric with stencils. Batik, weaving, applique, embroidery. Wallhangings & 3D structures, Visiting exhibitions & analysing artist’s work. ART TEXTILES

Facilities Sewing machines & mannequins, Computers, scanner, laser & inkjet printers Digital cameras for students use Screen printing darkroom, full-size printing table Electric Batik pots, Ceramic facilities & Kiln. ART TEXTILES
