9. OVERVIEW
This highly competitive course provides you with the skills you need to start a career in photography, or a related area within the creative industries. This is a practice-based course with projects both in the studio and on location. Alongside technical skills, you are encouraged to work on self-reflection and evaluation through class feedback sessions.
You will have an opportunity to work independently on self-initiated projects and to develop your own photographic ideas and briefs.
You will have the opportunity to work on client lead briefs that require a determined output
With a broad range of experienced staff on hand and industry standard facilities, this course is an excellent opportunity for those with a keen interest in photography, who want to develop that interest through full time study.
You will continually update your photographic portfolio showcasing your most recent work.

To pass this course your work is internally assessed at regular intervals and then externally examined and moderated.
The focus is on you as a learner and developing photographer/designer
There are a range of assessment methods/ feedback methods
2 main types of hand in methods ‘physical’ and ‘digital’ it is crucial that you adhere to them.

14. Where Will This Course Lead?
Studying a HND in Photography will immerse you in to an intricate and detailed insight of a photography studio, run by tutors with industry experience.
You will study a range of photographic techniques, materials and technology, which includes both digital and darkroom, location photography, studio practice, photography theories, as well as the business around freelancing.
Our HND will set you up to progress on to a degree within photography at university an work within the commercial or fine Art industry.

15. What Can I Do After This Course?
This course can lead you on to careers in press photography, advertising photography, exhibition work, editorial/commercial photography/freelance and teaching with further study including a top up degree with an Higher Education Institute.

16. What Else Do I Need To Know?
A manual 35mm SLR film camera and DSLR is a requirement of the course.
If you have a Learning support Need or Disability please let us know there may be additional support you can get.
You may need to purchase relevant photographic materials and equipment, as well as a number of books that we will identified in the equipment list/reading list/Handbook.
There maybe a variety of compulsory/optional visits, including day and overnight visits to London and the UK/abroad for relevant exhibitions and photographing on location.
During the course you will be given the opportunity to go on optional external visits to galleries and exhibitions suitable for your area of study. These visits will incur additional costs.
