GSCE KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER Name…………………………………….. Standard of work To be a level 4 you need to demonstrate a CONSISTENT ABILITY in all FOUR AREAS of the criteria. Sustained project One of your projects needs to be a lengthier project that you have developed further ON YOUR OWN Amount of work The expectation is ONE SKETCHBOOK or equivalent for each project with a final piece Home learning You should be spending AT LEAST ONE HOUR A WEEK ON ART AT HOME AQA Criteria Failure to produce enough work of a consistent quality will loose you marks for each of the four objectives on the criteria LITERACY SKILLS When discussing art work you must have the same amount and standard for a Level 4 as you would do in English. COURSE WORK The requirement for GCSE art is that you have a minimum of TWO COURSEWORK PROJECTS with IDENTIFIED final pieces . Coursework is worth 60% of your final GCSE Art grade EXAM Is worth 40% of your final grade. You will have four months to prepare in the Jan of Year 11. Treat it as another project that YOU PLAN FOR, you must choose your theme and work INDEPENDENTLY. Title page Neatly presented, relevant and eye catching. Could be on the top of your board, front page of your sketchbook or on paper in your folder WHAT IS YOUR PROJECT ABOUT? Brainstorm What ideas spring to mind when you think of the themes? How can you develop the theme further and break it down into chunks? What does the theme ‘mean’ write a definition. Think about how you present it- with images? In colour? Mind map? Researching artists and designers Research relevant artists, craftspeople and Designers Copy their work, describe their work, how does it fit in with your theme, talk about what you like/dislike about their work, explain their work- why and how was it made? be inspired by their work, do you own version of their work. Four pages per Artist minimum. Using different materials Pen, pencil, pastel, print ,paint, collage, graphics etc. Annotate- what went well? How did you use the technique? How can you make it better? What will you do next? Recording from observation and development of ideas Quality drawings in different materials including photographs of your theme. Write your ideas down, where are you heading, what's your intentions, how does it link in with the theme, show your journey from start to finish through diagrams and notes. Practice ,plan what your final piece will look like. Artists,Crafts People and Designers : Study a minimum of THREE RELEVANT PER PROJECT, AT LEAST ONE you should have resourced yourself. Complete an EQUIVILANT OF FOUR PAGES on them including working their style. ASSESSMENT OBJECTIVES: For a LEVEL 4 +: AO1 Study the work of Artists (Effectively) AO2: Experiment with different materials (Thoughtfully) AO3: Record from observation and show development of your own ideas (Skillfully) AO4: Produce a personal response to the theme. ( Competently) Max score is 24 points for each section. Final Outcomes required You must complete a FINAL OUTCOME in your chosen materials for TWO projects. One must be a DESIGN outcome.
