Homework English and Maths homework is set on a Friday and handed in on Wednesday. In accordance with our new homework policy, the emphasis for homework will be on reading, spelling and number fluency. Each task should take no more than 35 minutes. If your child has not completed the task during this time please do not continue. Homework will be recorded in homework books. Homework books should be treated with the same respect and pride as Learning Journals and Maths books. Sometimes children may require extra support with some concepts; in this instance they will be given extra tasks to support their learning at home. Spellings will be tested on spelling rules that we are learning and can be found on the school website. Spelling tests will take place weekly, these will be based on the Y6 curriculum and past SATS spellings. If there are any problems with the homework please encourage your child to come and speak to their teacher. GROWING TOGETHER AS CHILDREN OF GOD

Reading Children should be reading for at least 15 minutes each night, and recording it 3 to 4 times per week. Children can change their library books each Monday/Friday and quizzes can be taken during registration time or guided reading. We are continuing to use the Accelerated Reader Scheme this year; we encourage children to read a wide range of texts. The more a child reads at any age, the more progress they will make in both reading and writing. GROWING TOGETHER AS CHILDREN OF GOD

Behaviour Positive behaviour will always be praised. Children will have the opportunity to be selected for excelling in a range of areas including: Maths Writing Sport PSHE Sometimes yellow and red cards will need to be used, this will always be in line with the Behaviour Policy. Parents will be contacted either during the school day (extremely serious incidents) or at the end of the week if their child has received a red card. Yellow and red cards are recorded in the classroom behaviour log. GROWING TOGETHER AS CHILDREN OF GOD
