3 What is it like to be part of our school?
The Christian ethos is essential to our school The school is part of community. We aim to develop inquisitive minds, curiosity and passion for learning. We encourage children to take calculated risks. Children are trusted and taught to develop their independence. 4 A typical day in Y4 8.45 – Register, spellings/ handwriting
9.20 – Guided reading/ SPAG English 10.40 – Break 11.00 – Maths 12.00 – Lunch 1.pm – 3 – Topic work/ PE/ PSHCE Music etc. 3.00 – Assembly 3.20 – Hometime

5 Snacks Fresh fruit or vegetables only Water bottles

6 Homework Learning Log Tasks Set on Wednesday /completed for Monday
Learning Log club –Monday (Golden Galaxy) 1 Topic, English or Maths task Daily reading Spellings each week Times table focus JBi - Introduce “Preparing Your Child for School” booklet Maths passportsthe following week chn will have activities that relate to the skills taught. Learning Logs – will have a a focus activity related to maths applications.

7 Reading Reading Books/ Reading record – Children should read for minutes each day. We also encourage you to hear your child read aloud as often as possible. Reading raffle / Reading road Library – children encouraged to visit library during their lunch.

8 PE Earth – Wednesday and Thursday Mars – Monday and Wednesday

9 Writing BIG WRITE Handwriting – practised in school, high
standards of presentation are expected in all written work. Pen licenses – awarded when children’s handwriting is consistently good quality. Spellings – spellings are set by group and are tested each Monday. J.Bi – Free writing: all writing is encouraged/seen to be of benefit. (In small world/shared area)

10 Day to Day Expectations
Children need: Correct school uniform (details of this can be found on the school website) Hair tied back and stud earrings only, no other jewellery. PE Kit – shorts & jogging bottoms, shirt in the colour of their house. To be able to take their own earrings out for PE Wellies/change of shoes & mac for rainy weather. Drinks bottles (water only) JB

12 Vivos Two or three times in a half term, during Wednesday morning assembly, children will be given a certificate depending on what level they have achieved. Gold and Platinum certificates are awarded and celebrated within Friday’s Celebration Assembly. Green (25) Bronze (50) Silver (100) Gold (175) Platinum (250)

13 General Information Newsletters emailed each week
Star of the week and Maths Mind – awarded every Friday in assembly Head’s Picnic – children chosen as Star of the Week will join the head for a picnic. Parent helpers – we greatly appreciate any help on trips/ daily readers etc. Anything you can offer. Please speak to your child’s class teacher. JB
