1 Welcome Class 3 Parents

2 The Year 3 Team Mrs Jones: Every day Mrs Butler (TA): Every morning Mrs Tidy: Every Friday afternoon

3 Independence Children are expected to be responsible for: taking out and handing in homework handing in letters from home and making sure they put letters from school in their book bags.

4 Water Bottles All children should have a named water bottle that stays in the classroom throughout the day, as the children are encouraged to drink water to keep hydrated. Water bottles need to go home everyday to be replenished.

5 Break time Snack As the children are now in KS2, they are no longer able to receive free snacks at break time. Please send your child to school with a fruit or vegetable snack.

6 Medication We ask that any medication is brought in and reported to the office. Any asthma inhalers are stored in classrooms asthma/first aid box.

7 Behaviour Systems Gems points- whole school treats/awards
Climbing the ladder to success ( raffle tickets ,Leaf ) Bonus gem points for whole class efforts Owl merits Owl stickers for individual values/powers.

8 Behaviour Systems Class behaviour system – ladder system Consequence sheet (C1 and C2) C3 and C4 behaviours are logged C4 parents are informed

9 School uniform No nail varnish Only studs are allowed and these must be taken out or taped for PE Long hair should be tied up Watches are allowed but must be taken off for PE No other jewellery

10 PE Kits P.E takes place on a Monday and Friday afternoon.
Please ensure that appropriate school uniform PE kits are in on this day and that kits are taken home regularly to be washed. White T-shirts, green shorts, green or black jogging bottoms, change of socks and daps/ trainers (trainers are preferred as they support feet). Hair MUST be tied back if long enough. No jewellery to be worn (earrings must be taken out or taped up). Swimming will take place in the summer term. Children get changed for after school clubs in the hall.

11 Spellings New spellings will go out on a Monday.
Spelling books are to be handed in on a Friday. Spelling activities are carried out in the Purple book. Spelling tests are on a Friday. Half of spellings into sentences.

12 New Home Learning in KS2 Pick and Mix- due in on a Wednesday
Times tables ( to begin by the end of Term 1)

13 Times Tables Times tables will be carried out on Tuesdays.
They need to learn and practise their times tables facts (including division) The test will involve answering as many questions as they can in 5 minutes. For times tables - Children will take home a yellow card with the specific times table they are focusing on circled. We would encourage children to practise their times tables regularly to improve their confidence and speed.( Times tables rock stars logins to follow) Gem points will be awarded for progress made.

14 Reading Your child will be given a colour to pick their reading books from. Reading journal– please try to hear your child read every day and comment or sign the book. This will be checked weekly.

15 Reading Journals These have kindly been provided by FOLMs.
An adult will sign the book on hearing your child during guided reading. If possible, please place a protective cover on them. If they are lost, there will be a £2 charge for a new one.

16 The Curriculum Our topic this term is “ What did the Romans ever do for us?” We will be investigating the impact of Romans in Britain. Studying the Roman invasion of Britain, buildings, roads, lifestyle, military equipment and what they left behind. We have planned a trip to the Roman Baths in Bath on Wednesday 7th November.

17 Communication Ways to communicate with the school: End of year report
2x Parents’ evenings Open session ( Class 3 in June) the office School website

18 Communication Meetings with parents are recorded on a parent meeting sheet. Concerns can be raised and follow up actions noted. All members present can see and will sign the document at the end of the meeting. A photocopy will be made and given to the parent.

19 Helping Out in Class 3 Thank you to all those who have volunteered already. We understand that it is not possible for everyone to help because of work, children or other commitments. Please let us know if you are interested in helping out in class regularly. All parent helpers are required to have a DBS check, have Child protection training and must sign the code of conduct.
