WELCOME TO ORIENTATION 2017 -2018 CLASS IX-X *

Assessment & Examination introduced by CBSE Academic Pattern in the secondary school………. to be based on the new system of Assessment & Examination introduced by CBSE Uniform System of Assessment and Examination for Classes VI –X. Emphasis on Pen Paper Assessment. *

CLASSES IX-X An academic year will have 2 terms - SECOND TERM FIRST TERM April to September SECOND TERM October to March *

Co-scholastic point of view. ASSESSMENT For the purpose of fostering core competencies in learners, this curriculum encompasses seven major learning areas, from scholastic and Co-scholastic point of view. Scholastic Languages Science Social Sciences Mathematics Co-scholastic Areas Work Education Art Education Health and Physical Education *

TERM –I Periodic I comprising of one weekly test held in the months of July to August; and Subject enrichment activities. Mid Term Examination which will be held in September 2017 TERM – II Periodic II comprising of one weekly tests held in the months of November to February; and Subject enrichment activities. End Term Examination will be held in March 2018 *

STRUCTURE OF ASSESSMENT SCHEME The Assessment scheme will have a 20 marks component of Internal Assessment. An 80 marks component for End Term Examination / Board Examination in all scholastic subjects Students need to secure 33 percent marks separately in each of these components. *

Subject Enrichment Activities These are subject specific activities aimed at enrichment of the understanding and skill development. Languages: Activities conducted for subject enrichment in languages should aim at equipping the learner with effective Listening and Speaking skills. (ASL) Mathematics & Science: Practical work and Laboratory activities. Social Science: Map or the project work

NOTEBOOK SUBMISSION =>An important appraisal tool to ensure the regular and attentive participation of students in classroom transaction. =>It addresses the critical aspect of Regularity Punctuality Neatness Notebook upkeep. *

MID TERM – (80 Marks) PERIODIC TEST I- (50 MARKS) April to August English & Hindi / French Math, Science & Soc. Final Assessment-100 marks INTERNAL ASSESSMENT: Periodic test (Average of Mid Term Exam and best of the two periodic tests) :10 Marks ASL/Subject Enrichment Activities (Average of both periodic tests): 05 Marks CW & HW (Average of both Periodic ):05 Marks 10 +05+05=20 FINAL EXAMINATION: Pen Paper Test:80 Marks Total: 20+80=100 Students need to secure 33 percent marks separately in each of these components.

CLASS IX- FINAL GRADES MARKS GRADE 91—100 A1 81—90 A2 71—80 B1 Performance will be assessed using marks and grades. Grades on a 9 point scale will be awarded for the Scholastic Areas. MARKS GRADE 91—100 A1 81—90 A2 71—80 B1 61—70 B2 51—60 C1 41—50 C2 33—40 D 32 & below E (Failed) *

CLASS X- FINAL GRADES The Board will put all the passed students in a rank order and will award the grades. *

Co-Scholastic Activities For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas be carried out in CBSE affiliated schools by the teachers Work Education Art Education Health & Physical Education The students will be graded on a Five-point scale (A to E) A-Outstanding B-Very Good C-Good D-Fair E-Average *

WORK EDUCATION Work Education or Pre-Vocational Education Work education is a distinct curricular area for students for participation in skill based activities. The school offers IT Education/ Robotics as Work Education to the students so that they can keep pace with the changing trends and advancement in technology. *

ART EDUCATION Art Education entails instruction in various art forms (visual as well as performing). The aim is to help learners cultivate an interest and appreciation for arts . The students will be assessed based on the following factors.. Expression, creativity, Aesthetic appeal, Participation, Cooperativeness, Neatness and cleanliness The school offers following activities Dance Vocal Music Instrumental Music Theatre Painting Speech & Drama *

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION To help learners develop a positive attitude and commitment to lifelong, healthy and active living . The students will be assessed based on the following factors.. Overall fitness Active Participation Team-spirit Commitment   *

DISCIPLINE They will be graded on a Five-point scale (A to E) The students will also be assessed for discipline based on factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and others. They will be graded on a Five-point scale (A to E) A-Outstanding B-Very Good C-Good D-Fair E-Average *

A printed performance profile will be given twice in a year After the end of Term –I in the month of Oct (PT I + Mid Term) After the end of Term-II in March ( PT II + End Term/BOARD EXAM) Parents will be able to access the result of their ward by logging in to Campus Care. No printed report card will be given after the end of Periodic –I and Periodic - II. However there will be PTM to discuss your ward’s progress in school after both Weekly test cycles. *
