ET 493 – Senior Design Design of a Multi-Office Building BY: WOODROW WILSON INSTRUCTOR: DR. C. KOUTSOUGERAS ADVISOR: MR. R. EDWARD RODE

Objective To design a 4-office complex with a warehouse, and determine whether or not it is economically feasible to rent out three of the offices to pay the monthly cost of the whole building.

Deliverables for Spring ) To produce a floor plan 2) Produce elevation drawings of the building 3) Pick a site 4) Survey the site 5) Produce a parking plan 6) Review local building codes and adjust drawings accordingly 7) Determine a preliminary economic Feasibility - At this point economic feasibility will be based off of a cost/SF for the type of building and a rental cost of comparable offices in the area.

Deliverables for Spring 2015 Cont. 8) Materials take off - At this point material take off will not include any concrete, structural steel, fire suppression, mechanical, or electrical. 9) Start Final Drawings

Timeline First Semester Timeline January 20 – January 23: Meet with advisor to discuss topics January 26 – January 30: Cont. February 2 – February 6: Select topic/begin research February 9 – February 13: Preliminary floor plan drawings and building elevations February 16 – February 20: Site assessment and selection/ building and parking layout/ survey site February 23 – February 27: Cont. March 2 – March 6: Produce Preliminary Site Plan, Topo Survey Plan, and Parking Plan March 9 – March 13:Cont. March 16 – March 20:Begin working on Proposal Presentation March 23 – March 27:Research building codes March 30 – April 3:Economic Feasibility; assessment of costs and benefits April 6 – April 10: Cont. April 13 – April 17:Start producing working drawings/details April 20 – April 24: Cont. April 27 – May 1: Begin final drawings/ specifications May 4 – May 7: Begin final presentation and continue with final drawings
