3 Purpose The purpose of our project is to demonstrate everything that we have learned during the past few semesters in the Construction Engineering Technology Program at Southeastern Louisiana University. Our goal is to engineer, design and develop a commercial office building. This project will include every step, process and procedure that a real-world construction project would require, including construction estimates, site survey, plans, drawings, calculations and schedules that will satisfy and demonstrate the understanding of the construction and engineering industry.

4 Estimate Program: Microsoft Excel

5 Planning & Scheduling Software: Primavera

6 This Semester’s Deliverables
This semester we will begin the process of planning and designing the construction of a Commercial office building. First, we will research possible locations for the office building. After establishing a site for the office building, we will perform a site survey. Next, we will research the state and local building codes that need to be followed in order to begin construction. Finally, we will make use of AutoCAD or other engineering software to deliver the preliminary design and drawings of the office building.

7 Building Assessment The office will be a one story building
The purpose of the building is for use as an office by a small/medium size company. The building will be approx sq. ft. and will include a parking lot that is approx. 10,000 sq. ft. Floorplan, partitions and spaces will be design to our customer needs.

8 Site Location Airline Hwy. Barringer Foreman, Baton Rouge, LA 70817

10 Timeline January 26, 2017 – Meet with advisor
February 2, – Research Project February 9, – Work on Proposal February 16, – Identify Location February 23, – Research Codes and Regulations March 9, – Approve Location March 16, – Site Survey March 23, – Design/Drawings March 28, – Prepare Presentation

11 Conclusions In conclusion, this project will help to display the skills that we have developed while at Southeastern, and it will help to familiarize us with the type of work we may do after graduating. The research, site selection, surveys, and preliminary design that we complete this semester will provide a good foundation for the work we must do next semester to complete the construction plans and estimates. The ultimate goal over the next two semesters is to present an example of a completed construction project that is consistent with the expectations of a reputable construction company
