Why did the Industrial Revolution begin in England? 1. Geography of England 2. High Unemployment 3. Economic Wealth 4. British Empire

Geography of England An Island, lots of rivers, farmland, limited amount of land, & many cites. London became urban hub for Industrial Revolution. French Blockades lead to British needing to grow more food. (Napoleon)

High Unemployment Enclosure Movement Law allowed landowners to fence off lands for private use Peasants couldn’t afford private property  hungry Peasants flock to cities looking for new jobs in factories

England’s Economic Wealth Capital- Money was available to invest Entrepreneurs- People interested in investing in new business opportunities and ways to become more profitable

British Empire Colony- Territory under the control of a state both politically and economically Shipped raw material to England Cheap Labor used Raw materials used in factories to make goods. Britain then sells goods around the world
