A Template for Stakeholder Dialogue

Purpose To move its students to greater success with college and career readiness and in other state priorities the CVUSD LCAP Leadership Team will reflect individually and as a team on LCAP actions using a logic map, research on high- quality implementation, and the Annual Update. It will engage its stakeholders in a meaningful cycle of inquiry to ensure that the best actions and services are provided and measurable outcomes are met or exceeded.

Transforming Lives

Leaving a Legacy Why is this meeting important? Who could tell a five minutes story about power of education, particularly CVUSD education to advance their life?

Big Changes in Education Funding and Planning In 2013, California adopted a new formula for deciding how much state money each school district receives, called the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Funding is more influenced by the numbers of needy students and far less on state mandates – thus the focus on Local Control Districts control how to use the funds, but must get input from their local communities about how to address student needs. Districts must also tie their budgets to improvement goals by creating a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Collaborative Planning Will Address Eight State Priorities Districts must engage parents, educators, students, employees and the community to establish district plans. The plans will describe the district’s overall vision (expectations) for students, annual goals, and specific actions the district will take to achieve the vision and goals. The LCAPs must focus on eight areas identified as State Priorities. The plans must also demonstrate how the district’s budget will help achieve the goals, and assess each year how well the strategies in the plan were able to improve student outcomes.

CVUSD LCAP The LCAP Established 3 Goals to Meet the Required 8 State Priorities 74 actions overall. Many actions comprised of multiple parts.

CVUSD’s LCAP Goals and Actions 1. Increase student achievement and other pupil outcomes to prepare all students for college, career, and citizenship in the 21 st century: 47 Actions 2.Improve conditions of learning in a fiscally solvent and operationally efficient manner: 15 Actions 3. Increase engagement and collaboration among students, parents, staff and community members: 12 Actions

Action or Action Group What does LCAP say were our planned actions and expenditures?

Action or Action Group What were our actual actions/services? Implementation data. Are services being provided? What can be quantified? See Guiding Questions How are the they meeting needs of all subgroups? Do you have photos? Graphics to share?

Action or Action Group Share possible measurable student outcomes. Linkages to LCAP metric (Section 2)? – Goal 1: 10-13n I cannot remember what is meant – Goal 2: in this bullet – Goal 3: Other measures of student outcomes? Are our actions addressing student need? What’s important to start quantifying? How/when could we start doing that? Consider this for “what’s next?”

Action or Action Group What did we actually spend? Provide your Action Numbers to Veronica for the district’s best estimate. Work with Fiscal Services to explain any unusual circumstances. What expenditures might be expected next year? Look at the Year 2 plan.

Action or Action Group What’s Next? This year and next year? Propose your own reflections. Use Guiding Questions for Quality Implementation. What actions/services need more/different support? Use Guiding Questions What actions were missing? Use Guiding Questions for Quality Implementation. What other actions might help?

Action or Action Group What questions can we ask our stakeholders during the Tuning Protocol to tap into their ideas? What actions are helping most to move this action forward? What actions need to be adjusted or removed? How? What actions are missing? How are actions impacting students? How do you know? How can we support this action better in the future?

Action or Action Group Which ideas shared from the Stakeholder Dialogue seem to be most promising areas for the district look into more deeply?
