3 Proclamation of 1763 This said that colonists could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. Great Britain did this to protect the colonists from Indian attacks. The colonists were not happy about this. Why would this anger the colonists?

4 Quartering Act Great Britain insisted that British soldiers stay in homes of the colonists. The colonists were not compensated for this. Also, since the soldiers were underpaid they took jobs from the Americans This action led to more friction and eventually violence. Why and what incident did this lead to?

5 Stamp Act This act would really “rile up” the colonists. King George felt the people should help pay for the war. It was a law that said that stamps had to be placed on newspapers, legal documents, playing cards, etc. These stamps had to be paid for. Why did this anger the colonists?

6 Townshend Acts The colonists were successful in getting the Stamp Act repealed. Their troubles weren’t over. The Townshend Acts were added. Also the writs of assistance. What did this mean to the colonists? Why would it add to the mounting tension?

7 Tea Act The Townshend Acts were repealed. However there was still a tax on tea. The colonists were still upset and this led to what famous event? Who tried to pay for the tea and what was King George’s Reaction?

8 On the Road to Revolution There would be some other happenings that would lead to revolution and the “Shot heard ‘Round the World”
