1 IMPACT SAMR Cover Sheet
Teacher’s Name: Suzan Steed Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) Task Overview Learning Objective(s) Suggested Technology The students will critique 2 other groups slide. They will be given problems to solve and must follow the slides they are to critique to check for accuracy and clarity. Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) Computer and internet access. The students will be assigned partners and create slides explaining the Octet Rule. Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) The students will take a quiz on the Kahoot website The students will watch a video and take notes over the Octet Rule. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. transformation MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign.. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. enhancement SUBSTITUTION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with no real change.

2 Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
Octet Rule Watch a video and take notes. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log into Mrs. Steed’s Blackboard Click on the Physical Science tab. 3. Under Octet Rule click on Video . 4. Watch the video and take notes in your journal. This task uses: Computer and Internet access. Learning Objective(s): Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Vinton High School Louisiana State Standard: Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) Grade Level/Subject: Physical Science 10th grade Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students: Atomic Structures

3 A Octet Rule Log into Mrs. Steed’s Blackboard
Take a quiz over the Octet Rule. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Log into Mrs. Steed’s Blackboard Click on the Physical Science tab. Under Octet Rule, click on quiz. Complete the Kahoot quiz. This task uses: Computer and Internet Access Learning Objective(s): Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Vinton High School Louisiana State Standard: Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) Grade Level/Subject: Physical Science 10th grade Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students: Atomic Structures

4 significant task redesign.
M Octet Rule       Apply knowledge and create slides. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Log into Mrs. Steed’s Blackboard Click on the Physical Science tab. Under Octet Rule, click on Attached Files: Octet Slides. Find your assigned number and open your Google Slides. You and your partner will create slides explaining the Octet Rule. One of you will explain and give examples for elements with valence electrons >4 and the other will do the same for elements having <4 valence electrons. Together you will design a cover page and create a summary page with a 6 problem quiz. This task uses: Computer and Internet Access Learning Objective(s): Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H- B1) (PS-H-C5) . TEACHER NOTES: I set up a set of slides for each of my groups and saved them on a word document. I then attached the word document to my Blackboard page. 5 R Octet Rule Log into Mrs. Steed’s Blackboard
Critique REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Log into Mrs. Steed’s Blackboard Click on the Physical Science tab. Under Octet Rule, click on Attached Files: Octet Slides. You will now critique the sides above and below your assigned number. This will be done in the comment section. Be sure to put your number after your comment so we will know where the comment is coming from. This task uses: Computer and Internet Access Learning Objective(s): Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Vinton High School Louisiana State Standard: Describe the results of loss/gain of electrons on charges of atoms (PS-H-B1) (PS-H-C5) Grade Level/Subject: Physical Science 10th grade Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students: Atomic Structures
